Engagement: Gooding and Gifford
Dr. Larry Gooding and Emily Ennis of Fairbanks announce the engagement of their daughter, Alison Cristina Gooding, to Michael Harlan Gifford, son of Susan Gifford of West Vancouver, British Columbia, and Martin Gifford of North Vancouver, British Columbia.
Alison, a graduate of West Valley High School and Fordham Law School, is employed as an executive director of business and legal affairs for E! Entertainment Network in Los Angeles. Mike graduated from Queen’s University and the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law, and was an associate at Morrison & Foerster, LLP, a New York law firm, until his recent relocation to Los Angeles.
An October wedding in New York City is planned, the city where the couple met and fell in love. They will reside in Venice, Calif., where Alison and Mike enjoy living three blocks from the beach and perfecting their surfing skills.
Wedding: Sturrock and Venechuk
Kelsey Sturrock and Alec Venechuk were married Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Juneau. The Rev. Jack de Verteuil of Healy officiated. The wedding was followed by a reception at the Juneau Yacht Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mary Fiorella and Nick House, and Mike Sturrock and Kelly McLean of Juneau. A graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage, she is a registered nurse at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of Tim and Cheryl Venechuk of Healy. A graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, he is an exploration engineer at Usibelli Coal Mine in Healy.
The maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Rachael Sturrock. Bridesmaids were Sarah Lowell, Kelly Gitter, Kim Harris and Helea Hendricks. The flower girl was the groom’s sister, Halle Venechuk.
The best man was the groom’s brother, Evan Venechuk. Groomsmen were Walker Milliken, Weston Howe, Josh Rinck and the bride’s brother, Michael Sturrock. Ring bearers were Jakob and Koen House.
The couple honeymooned at Hasselborg Lake on Admiralty Island. They make their home in Fairbanks.
