Public Safety Report — July 10
Published Thursday, July 10, 2008
The Public Safety Report is compiled from criminal complaints filed in state and federal courts, as well as some police blotter information, trooper dispatches, fire department reports and interviews with public safety officials. Individuals named as arrested and/or charged with crimes in this report are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Burglary
More than $1,000 in cash was reported stolen Tuesday from a home in the 300 block of 12th Avenue. The owner told Fairbanks police he thought someone broke in about a month ago, but only discovered the missing money Monday.
Sexual abuse
A Fairbanks man is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Tyler J. Menson, 20, of North Pole, has been charged with second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, a felony.
Alaska State Troopers were called to Menson’s home Monday night for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Menson told troopers that he had been living with the girl for several weeks, they had been dating for a year and the relationship was sexual, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
Both Menson and the teen said her parents were aware of the living situation and “accepted” the relationship.
