Cover of Palin book unveiled
Published Thursday, October 1, 2009
NEW YORK - You know the title, now see the cover of Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue."
The former Alaska governor's memoir, a top-seller online weeks before publication, will feature an outdoor shot of Palin, wearing an American flag pin on her red fleece top, eyes turned slightly from the camera as she smiles confidently into the horizon, a patchwork of Alaska blue sky and clouds behind her.
The image was released Thursday by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins.
The book, originally planned for next spring, is coming out Nov. 17 with an announced first printing of 1.5 million copies. Palin and collaborator Lynn Vincent finished "Going Rogue" just two months after Palin's resignation as governor.

Granted I have not read the book but I seriously doubt there's anything in it resembling any American's life other than hers.
Edit #1 (An American's Life)
Boo!
I'm gonna read it!
I reserved my copy!!
You can't believe everything you read about, Palin.
The concervatives are silent no more,...thank you SARAH and obama.
I thought it would be a picture like this one:
http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/...
Bet there's a message in the clouds behind her!! lol
I am printing it and bring it to Dermot's book signing this weekend for him to sign!
Whew! I was afraid that she'd use this one:

thanks hobbes. thanks a lot. you just gave me nightmeres..
Its shame I already bought firewood for the winter. Oh well.
I'm glad someone straightened her out on the original cover theme:

The one she decided to go with seems a bit more professional...
Antichrist
Oh the noes, she will sell more copies before its release than both of Obama's books have sold combined over several years.
How can that be?
Interesting title. Definition of Rogue. Look it up. LOL
1. An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.
2. One who is playfully mischievous; a scamp.
3. A wandering beggar; a vagrant.
4. A vicious and solitary animal, especially an elephant that has separated itself from its herd.
5. An organism, especially a plant, that shows an undesirable variation from a standard.

Wow, so the original title really was a misprint then and was intended to be "Going Rouge"?
It has been reported the pre-orders are already over 2 million for the book.
Sarah Palin could still be your governor but you let 10 or so nutjobs take over state.
Thank God Sarah Palin left your state in good hands and hopefully you have learned your lesson and you will back your new governor.
Because Obaman and his loons will be turing their attention to Alaska and they will try to shut you down.
Beauiful cover of an American woman going rogue.
I love our Alaskan women!
Not once do I see any liberals criticize her on the political issues. They just can't.
AK1958
Do you live in Alaska?
I love our Alaskan women!
----------------------
Quitters turn you on, huh?
Wonder who she will spill the beans on. Wonder which Alaskans are shaking in their shoes wondering what she wrote about them. All the negative talk about her simply drives her book sales up. Guess what you are just helping her make more and more money.
Sarah Palin is no Alaskan; she is an Idahoan. Her book is probably a blank book.
Curiosity killed the cat......for the takers it will be their pocketbook.
And YES I LIVE IN ALASKA.......right down the road from the quitter!
You don't like Dermot, do you Powerless-to-stop-Obama? I mean, why not? Did he beat you up? Did he run over your dog? Do his articles not jive with your one-dimensional world view?
Or are you just jealous? I imagine that Dermot's books have sold far more copies than your's ever will.
I have to admit, this cover looks good. I don't expect as much for the rest of the book, but the cover is nice.
Love the cover and cant wait to read it.

Excuse me. That was a mistake.
Premature climax, Dipper?
It was nice of you to apologize.
This is where I was trying to go:
http://macbigot.com/media/Women_In_Polit...
Must be something in the ideology that attracts a different style of women. What the women in the lower panel lack in looks, they more than make up for in obnoxiousness.
Oh_please-
Speaking of obnoxious...
AK1958
If you live that close, you will read the book.
Dipper:
"Must be something in the ideology that attracts a different style of women."
You mean a right-wing ideology attracts bimbos?
Henry-
I thought that Bill Clinton attracted "bimbos". I doubt if any of these Republican women felt anything but revulsion at the thought of the bimbo meister.
Wow, Dipper, you are one classy dude! LOL
Oh_please-
You're right. It was low class of me to post humorous pictures of political figures. That's your specialty, isn't it? I apologize for trying to horn in on your low class territory.
(When you do that LOL thing, does that mean that you think that you just wrote something clever? I can never tell.)
Too bad the socialist have hijacked the democratic party. The democrats would never be so hateful and demeaning to any woman, even if she happen to be a republican. They would be proud that a woman reach some level of success in this world.
But now under the socialist, women can be dehumanized if they lean right politically. It's not "rape rape" (Woopi quote) if your a socialist director. And David Letterman will get a high five in the hall way for having sex with his staffers.
Nah, Dipper. It means you've amused me in some way, usually unintentionally.
Remember in the olden days when family members were off limits? What happened to all that high-falutin' moralizin', Dipper?
Oh_please-
Your comment would be relevant if I had posted pictures of some elected official's family members. Hillary doesn't count, as she has her own status. Who are you criticizing me about this time?
Kerry's wife?
And going after these women simply for their looks? Are you sure that's the direction you want to go?
I wonder if there's an Al Jaffee drawn, Mad Magazine style fold-in inside the back cover.
Oh_please-
What a reach! Weak!
She was political in her own right. I distinctly recall Theresa Heinz Kerry bankrolling Kerry, and spreading her own brand of Bush hate across the country back in '04. Not an innocent bystander by any means.
But, we'll take her out of the group shot and replace her, if you insist.
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/210/51364...
Dipper: Just put Bonnie Williams in with the Republicans and call it even.
I think I made Oh_please angry.
Gonna come back with some nasty pictures, I'll bet you.
Oh well, nothing new there.
Simmer down, Dipper. LOL
My wife is a conservative and she would fit right in with Dippers hot list. Are liberal chicks hags? Yes, if they are over 30 that is. If they are under 30 it just means that they haven't seen the light yet. And those that are liberals after 30 are so because the light saw them coming and ran like heck. Seriously, those are some ugly women there OP and that ain't no lie.
I see the pit bull, but wheres the lipstick?
I have better things to waste money on, such as bills!
I heard that some liberals get their jollies by putting lipstick on pigs. Really, I saw a liberal bragging about doing that on TV last year. And after gazing upon Dippers hotties and notties I can see how lipstick might be useful, or even mandatory. And if the lipstick came in a large paper bag all the better.
Go Palin Go! 2012
I hope we can keep from becoming the Socialist States Of Satan, Oops I mean the Socialist States of Obama.
Dipper,
Got a good laugh out of that Rosie pic. I mean really, I laughed out loud on that one. Hairy back and all. Nice.
I think Oh Please is a conservative troller. She (or he, you never really know) likes to pick fights with you and Prospector. The conservative in her/him is screaming to get out. Could use a little tension releaser there oh_please? then you might change your name to oh_yes.
She is so extremely cheesy, GAWD! Going Rogue, oh please.
Oh_please never takes facts well,especially when it's about Gov.Palin.She's a hottie OP and you know it,make that a rich hottie.
Yep. Hottie.
http://tinyurl.com/yahjkr2
NOW I know who she reminds me of. She's Meg from "Family Guy".
Hottie? That will definitely garner my vote.....
Nice cover. Of course, there is that old saying about how to judge a book...but again, why don't we just wait and see? The funny thing is that I find those of you hammering her for everything including this cover as obnoxious (ok, not to the same extent) as those who seem to believe that publishing a book makes one a good Presidential candidate. Several of my friends have written books, have sold many, many copies, and no they aren't half as famous as she is. But no, I wouldn't vote for them either. Being President isn't about writing books. Is that why we voted for Obama -- because he wrote, or co-wrote, some books? It's inane. So this "go Sarah" stuff is just so lame.
Hundreds of books are published DAILY. Most never see the light of day or are heard of, not because they aren't good, but because no one knows about them. I read a review of a book in the NY Times, that afternoon I hear a review of th same thing on NPR, then suddenly the next day the same one is reviewed in the Inquirer. This is what will happen with Palin's book. Not because it's good (or bad, or whatever) but because of who she is. Same thing would happen if Michael Vick wrote a book -- and he will one of these days btw, maybe with the same ghostwriter. As for the rest of us shlubs who toil over the keyboard each day, well, we are nobodies. So we write random thoughts on the DNM website, where at least someone might read what we have to say.
Interesting, her hair is down. Don't see that very often.
Aaaaand this is why the wingers are so bitter.
With attitudes like Dipper, NotPc and the rest it's clear they don't do too well with the ladies. They saw all the sensitive, liberal guys getting all the good women in college. Makes 'em bitter. If they can't get the ladies they turn to right-wing politics in a sad attempt to gain some sort of social acceptance and power. That'll show them lib guys!
I swear, if we could only get some of these poor guys laid earlier in life we could avoid a lot of inadvertent Republicanism.
And do you really want me to post a bunch of pictures of 'handsome' Republican men in response to your rampant sexism, Dipper? LOL
Back when I was in college I was a sensitive liberal guy. It didn't help me.
And ACORN was working on a program to help younger people get the affection they desire but those pesky undercover tapes put an end to that.
OP, post a recent picture of Rush next to Clinton.
Personally I think that Dip may have just discovered the cure to premature "you know what". Just post the bottom half of that poster on your wall and let the good times roll. Just try not to have nightmares afterwards.
OP, post a recent picture of Rush next to Clinton.

Ohhhh, those Republican power brokers make a handsome lot, don't they?
What was the point of this exercise, again??
OP,
Yes, do that (post some pictures of 'handsome' Republican men); 'sensitive' Democrat men need to have pictures to dream about too.
Just remember that virile Conservative men are usually heterosexual and range somewhere between mildly to outright homophobic (so it would be dangerous for your 'boyfriends' to approach most of us with 'lust' on their minds).

OP, it was foolish of me to think that you would past and copy actual undoctored pictures that represent reality. Maybe someday when I posses your skill at imageshacking I will challenge you to a duel
Sorry, Doug, but when I think conservative family values type, I think repressed homosexual. The research on this is pretty hard to refute.
Here's video of Rush last week on the Jay Leno show, minus 80 pounds.

(This comment was removed by the Newsminer.com staff. Please see our User Agreement for further information.)
Wow, he's lost weight! Is he wacky on the junk again??
Curmudgeon-
Obviously some isolated incidents of homosexual behavior, but irrefutable research that conservative family value types are really gay? Please tell us more.
Why so defensive, Dipper?
TAC,
If I ever had any such feelings, I assure you they were "shot in the head and buried deep" long ages ago. Not "repressed" - "dead and buried" is more like it (and unlike the Messiah, I don't expect them to ever "Rise from the Dead" much less make a "Triumphal 2nd Return")...
Oh_please-
If you reread the previous posts this morning, maybe you'll notice that YOU are the one half off your rocker. I'm not going to justify your juvenile "You must be gay" comments. You're sounding like a high schooler. Calm down.
What did you accuse roadtrip of snorting?
You got cured of The Gay, Doug??
OP,
Not all Republicans are 'Conservative' (or heterosexual) and neither are all Democrats 'Liberal' (and homosexual)...
OP,
I thought Liberals insisted that Gayness couldn't be "cured"?
I never said anything about gay in that post, Dipper. I said getting you guys girlfriends would have helped alleviate your bitterness early in life. What does that have to do with gay??
You guys are mighty defensive about The Gay this morning!
Oh_please-
Never mind. Keep it up. I kind of enjoy watching you make a fool of yourself.
Gotcha there, Mr. Look-how-ugly-liberal-women-are. LOL
I'm talking about the loudmouth family values crowd, Doug. Whenever I hear one of them spout off, I figure they're hiding something. And I've been proven right on that point so many times that I'm amazed any of them still hop on that bandwagon. Quickest way to cast suspicion on yourself at this point.
And the ones who continually obsess over other people's sexuality (particularly homosexuality)...well, that just ain't natural behavior.
OP,
"I said getting you guys girlfriends would have helped alleviate your bitterness early in life..."
You're right (and they did); of ocurse, most of our wives and girlfriends were not 'Feminazis' either (and that does help)...
You're right (and they did); of ocurse, most of our wives and girlfriends were not 'Feminazis' either (and that does help)...
Yeah... Uppity women are the worst!
palin is one hot broad, i mean babe. better make that one very good looking conservative woman. hope they included a fold out in the book.
TAC,
I do believe in "Family Values" however, that said, I am willing to allow you to believe in whatever values 'float you boat'. I have had a couple of friends (and more acquaintenances) over the years that I knew were gay. I have had still more over the years that I suspected were gay. I will not deliberately taunt or harrass them but that doesn't mean I think it is 'normal' or desireable either.
I won't 'press my beliefs on you' but don't ask me a question if you don't want to know the answer!
"Feminazi" is just a stupid word. Like "sheeple." You sound like an idiot when you use words like that.
OP,
I can certainly tell that you either don't know me or have never met my wife (if you think my wife can't 'stand up for herself').
There are plenty of strong-willed and opinionated women who are not and never were 'Feminazis' (or 'Liberals' for that matter) and not all men need to dominate and subjugate women in order to feel masculine either.
Not sure what Rush's original definition of 'Feminazi' was but I suspect he meant for it to include women who believe they have to 'beat down' and 'subjugate' their men in order to feel good about themselves.
I'm just sick of the hypocrisies, Doug. The moral crusaders are the ones who have demolished the Republican Party and turned it into a joke.
They're nothing but a mob of Pharisees. If Jesus came back today, every last one of them would grab a hammer and nails and start chasing him down. They wouldn't appreciate the competition.
Mascunazis?
BABYLON,
There was a phrase that came out during last years' election cycle, "Words have meaning..." Well sometimes words "take on new meaning" (or meanings) and yes, "Feminazi" does have meaning and if it's not in the dictionary yet, I suspect it will be before very many more years.
Just because you don't like the definition, doesn't mean it doesn't exist...
TAC,
"They're nothing but a mob of Pharisees..."
Now THERE'S something I can agree with you on!
I DON'T CARE HOW YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE OR WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO BELIEVE IN (OR NOT BELIEVE IN) OR WHETHER YOU CHOOSE TO BELIEVE IN A DIETY OR NOT!
I am Baptist (specifically, I am Southern Baptist) and I have friends who are Catholic and Morman (excuse me, LDS) and I have had friends who were Jewish, and Buddhist, and once a friend who was Muslim. Once you've told me that you "DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT", I don't care what your religion is.
I do believe I have the right to believe in those things WITHOUT BEING ATTACKED, WITHOUT BEING MALIGNED, AND WITHOUT BEING CALLED AN IMBICILE by Liberals (or Moderates)! And, perhaps you've noticed? My "BACK-UP" gear doesn't work real well!
http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/9071/...
Here's a tidbit for everyone....a quote from her QUITTING speech..."It's is as throughout Alaska that big wild teeming along the road that is north to the future".... HER EXACT WORDS...IS THAT HILARIOUS, OR WHAT...
Do you think she will write about Todd's friend that was sued for divorce and the other woman's name was kept from being revealed?? Inquiring minds want to know!
Thank goodness Sarah stepped in and gave her a job!
(This comment was removed by the Newsminer.com staff. Please see our User Agreement for further information.)
Doug, I didn't say that "feminazi" has no meaning, I said that it's a stupid word. Big difference. If you can't see that, fine, but it's the kind of word that, when you use it, people can very safely stick you in the "moron" box and forget about you.
BigRob: relax a bit there, bub. wow.
The Alaska people are changing their values and becoming more like main American. At one time, we were proud Alaskans and encouraged and supported the people that help make us lives easier here. We all had a "attitude of gratitude". What I've seen since Sarah been in office is a bunch of "jealous" people (women & men) that spend their boring lives tearing her down. She was a great governor but people like you wouldn't let her do her job. It was costing her money to fight the "little" people, so she decided to support her family another way. Sarah is where she is because she worked for it, so if you want what she got - you'll have to work for it too. She is a beautiful woman and very smart too.
BigRob,
I only vaguely remember sending you an 'private' email; if I did, then you probably know who I am and where to find me.
No, I'm not interested in looking you up; I'm not interested in being contaminated by you...
GDOLL: You've made so many incorrect assumptions, attempting to re-right your ship would be futile.
(This comment was removed by the Newsminer.com staff. Please see our User Agreement for further information.)
BABYLON,
"I didn't say that "feminazi" has no meaning, I said that it's a stupid word. Big difference..."
You're right (in that there is a 'Big Difference'); I just don't happen to subscribe to your notion or understanding of "stupid" (or "moronic" for that matter). If you say that 'Feminazi' is a quick and easy 'tag' or 'label' I would agree with you.
I do think it is an easy way to label someone who exhibits a type of behavior that I do not respect or agree with. It's easier than expending the time and energy to explain to you things that I doubt you will ever understand or agree with anyway.
Sarah Palin. Amazing how the liberals and dems HATE her so much. Why all the hate?
Another question: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FAIRBANKS I USED TO LOVE??
Doug, I was just trying to help you sound less like an idiot.
why wouldn't liberals hate sarah palin? she scares them. she is a strong conservative woman and a mover and a shaker. she is going to be quite wealthy with this book deal. and, she's going to be in their face even more. the country will probably have moved farther right of center by the next big election and she will play a part in it, even if she isn't a canidate.
BABYLON,
You mean less like your definition of "idiot"?
Doug: Isn't Southern Baptist redundant?
It's all obamas fault!
TAC,
No, you'd have to be one to understand it. The word "Southern" was added during or just before the Civil War to "differentiate" between Baptists in the South and Baptists in the North. Northern Baptists were largely "abolitionist" in their views (while Southern Baptists were not). Yes, I know. Southern Baptists continued to "wrap themselves in the flag" (the Southern "Stars and Stripes" that is) for decades afterwards.
Only in the last 30 or 40 years have Southern Baptists decided that they "made a mistake" over the issue of slavery (and racism). Yes, sometimes Baptists are a bit "slow" in other mental exercises too...
Reub & squarebanks: you act like this is a popularity contest. So does our ex-gov. Therein lies the problem...because I don't want politicians to be popular, I'd prefer them to be effective. And when one of them, much like Palin did post-nomination, starts looking for ways to work it and be popular (among the base of the R party who she previously disdained), I tend to lose confidence that they are really there to represent me. So you can spin it as "hating your girl" all you want; that doesn't make it true.
TAC,
One more thing, in the small town in south-central Florida where I grew up, there were five churches within three blocks of my grandparents home. One Baptist, one Methodist, one Presbyterian, one Catholic (and I forget what the fifth one was).
There were also four other Baptist Churches in town that were Southern Baptist and at least a dozen others that were not affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Southern Baptists were probably the largest single denomination but we were not the only one (by any stretch of the imagination)...
Well stated, tok.
Once again, not once do I see a mature comment.
tok242,
"...So you can spin it as "hating your girl" all you want; that doesn't make it true."
I could say the same thing of Barack Obama; "you can spin it as 'hating your (guy)' all you want; that doesn't make it true."
I don't like what he's trying to do, I don't like what he done, I don't like what he has said about this country but I don't hate him. I just wish he was gone (as in retired - not dead)...
Since when is this article about the President? Stop talking apples & oranges.
It is not "apples and oranges"; it is the same thing! He had little more experience (in fact, many would argue that he has less) than she did and still if we disagree with his plans, practices, or policies, we are accused of "hating" him! It is the same thing!
Doug: hear me now and believe me later, this article is about the cover of Palin's book. The comments on here should be in line with that subject. I am simply not going to address your whining (sorry, but that is clearly what it is) about some mysterious "we" as if all critics and responders to critics (on any issue) have one voice and believe the same thing. That's silly, but if you can't get past the lumping of everyone in one basket, then I guess I understand your tendency to compare apples & oranges.
Apples are crisper than oranges.
Oh_please 10/1/2009, 4:38 p.m.
I love our Alaskan women!
----------------------
Quitters turn you on, huh?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, oh_please, you're labeling Alaskan women as quitters?
an effective liberal response to palin would be to confront her soley on the issues. by attacking her or her family personaly they are wasting effort and galvanizing support among her base. but hey, keep it up, its good fun. and if you didn't constantly tip your hand with your petty whining you might do some real damage. maybe, add a few more trillion to the national debt.
BABYLON,
You are correct, "apples are crisper than oranges".
tok242,
I started this answer, got interrupted and "lost it all" so I had to start all over.
You stated earlier, "(Y)ou act like this is a popularity contest... Therein lies the problem... because I don't want politicians to be popular, I'd prefer them to be effective." In talking about her effectiveness (or lack thereof), you "opened the door" just a little to discuss the effectiveness of any and all 'politicians' in general; but then you “kicked the door wide open” when took a 90 degree turn off into the political ‘pucker-brush’ by saying, “So you can spin it as "hating your girl" all you want; that doesn't make it true.”
So let’s backtrack a minute to ‘effectiveness’ - tell me what has Barack Obama done that is or was effective? I would guess that you will probably say, “Well, you Republicans have blocked every thing he has attempted to do!” I would respond, “Yes, you’re right because this shouldn’t be a ‘popularity’ contest but an attempt to accomplish something for the ‘good of the constituency’.” We differ on what that ‘good of the constituency’ looks like.
Whenever we resist anything that Barack Obama says or does, we are accused of racism and hatred when in fact, most of us are not racist and do not hate him. We do not like his policies, his political agenda, or the people he surrounds himself with. You say you don’t want to address my whining; fair enough - I will address it for you.
We will resist his policies, procedures and friends fully as long as you resist Sara Palin. I hope she does run again because I think she has a ‘natural affinity’ with the majority of moderate and conservative Americans. I would agree you that she was “Not ready to be President” (but then, she wasn’t running for the Office of President). She now has time to overcome the taint of the “Maverick” John McCain and “bone up” on her homework you might say. I don’t think she’s stupid like many on your side of the isle do. I think, should she choose to run again, she will be ready. She will know the answers. I could be wrong but I don’t think so.
(Cont’d)
We can only hope that in the election cycle of 2010, the people of the United States will realize the error of their voting decisions in 2008 and correct it by wresting control of either or both the House or Senate and (effectively ‘tying’ his hands until 2012). If I am wrong and the Democrats will retain control of both the House and Senate, I will lament the loss of the country I grew up in. There, I whined (happy now). If, on the other hand, the American public realizes that “not voting” for John McCain was the same thing as voting for Barack Obama and turn out to “fix their blunder”, I will be happy (and I will gloat).
Oh, one more thing. When I say "we" blocked his initiatives, I was speaking with a "mouse in my pocket" since Republicans have a controlling interest in NEITHER the House or the Senate. "We" in this instance also refers to a handful of Conservative "Blue Dog" Democrats who didn't like what he was trying to do either...
more cleavage please?
Finally see someone right maturely. Thanks Doug. But I really am disappointed it didn't come from a liberal, as it would make things more fun out here. I ain't lying libs, I really am disappointed.
Doug, this is not a contest between the President and Sarah Palin. I didn't come here to argue for or against the President. I honestly haven't read your posts above because as I started, all I saw was "we" "you" and "racist" which told me you were still doing that lumping thing again.
This is a contest between Palin and the communist in chief. Palin is the leader of the conservative resistance. She is the antiobama.
Today's scorecard, Palin side wins two big victories. Her book will sell like ice in hell and the perv. Letterman goes down in flames.
And Obama loses two, the first and most obvious is getting his home town of Chicago summarily dismissed by the IOC. And yes, the IOC did humiliate Obama. The second hit to his side is the fact that it is becoming evident to most trained thinkers that his policies are making the economy worse instead of better. But there is a silver lining to the days news liberals. I will never refer to Obama as Godbama or Lord Obama again. Why? Gods don't come falling from the sky.
Doug: Just yanking your chain. To be honest, when I think Southerners, I tend to think Pentecostal first. And speaking in tongues. And all that snake handling. I hate snakes. In fact, that's one of the reasons I live in Alaska. No snakes, other than the political ones.
You know, I never should have read all those Fauklner books. Let alone the Cormac McCarthys. Kind of gave me a warped perspective. Or as Flannery O'Connor said, "anything that comes out of the South is going to be called grotesque by the northern reader, unless it is grotesque, in which case it is going to be called realistic".
tok242,
You're right in that this thread is not about (at least not mostly about) President Obama. It has been mostly about Sara Palin. Some of the people who post here like and admire her. Most of us who do, realize that she has personal flaws and foibles (and that she is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination) but we still like her.
Most of the people who like and admire President Barack Obama detest Sara Palin and it seems to be directed at her personally. Most of the people who like Sara Palin (at least most of the ones I know) don't like or admire Barack Obama BUT IT IS NOT PERSONAL (at least it is not personal for most of us). I am sure there are some people (particularly in the deep south) who probably do dislike him because of the color of his skin (and in that, those who call 'RACIST' are correct). Most of us however, disapprove of his policies and the direction he wishes to move this country (their 'dislike' has NOTHING to do with the color of his skin)!
I said all of that in order to set this up to say this; whatever else this conversation started off about, no one can put up fences to say, "You have to stay within these boundaries..." or "You can't go there, that's outside of where this conversation started or should be headed". You can't do that and neither can I. And, yes, sometimes I do do that "lumping" thing (particularly when someone like BigRob attacks me personally for no other reason that admitting I'm 'Southern Baptist').
If I offended you by "lumping" you incorrectly, I do apologize...
TAC,
I've told people for years that, "I have five reasons for not living in Florida where I was born and raised. Heat, humidity, bugs, snakes, and alligators."
I know we have bugs here but we don't have (except for occasionally in the household baggage of newly arrived military families) things like black widow or brown recluse spiders. We don't have centipedes, millipedes, or scorpians. We don't have fire ants, or venomous snakes, and we don't have alligators either. According to recent programs Florida now has a growing population of Burmese Pythons and we don't have them either (except for a few people like a friend of mine who has what I consider an 'unhealthy' fascination for them). I'll take my chances with bears, wolves and the occasional moose.
As for 'Snake handling' churches (mostly in the Ozarks, so I've heard) I don't mind if they want to do that. I know where the practice comes from but I don't agree with the purpose or direction it has taken. I have several good friends who are Catholic and 'venerate' the Virgin Mary; I respect her but that's all. I don't mind if they do but I don't. I do not have 'the Gift of Tongues' either. I know where that comes from as well and I hold a different interpretation of what happened then too. Like those who choose not to believe in my God, I also practice a bit of lenience and tolerance toward those who practice their 'Faith' differently than I do.
Doug-
BigRob attacked you because that is what BigRob does. He is a cheerleader for the unions and the Democrats. All that he knows is that he hates those who disagree with him, and is compelled to insult and attack. Much like LostAlaskan99712 and CurtJ. Your comments, on the other hand, indicate respect for other people of other opinions. There are some liberal contributors who also know the value of respect, but when the subject of Sarah Palin comes up, some of them even lose it. It's like their feelings got hurt back in Sept. of '08, and they can't get over it.
I don't much care. Right now the battle is for the country. Our main chance at surviving this huge push to the radical left, away from the fast lane to socialism, is to prevail in the 2010 national elections. I am watching races, and sending contributions to candidates that I like. No sense being too shy to point out when BHO stumbles.
9.8% unemployment today. 17% if you add in people with part time jobs. Stimulus spending my butt. When will more people realize that they have been scammed.
One hit wonder...
Doug,
I said nothing about restricting your speech, but I also do not feel compelled to be baited by you wanting to talk about something I didn't come today to post about. You have every right to your opinion but instead of talking about specifics, you clearly have shown that you have drawn a line in the sand and are at war with this mythical "other side" out there--a group who you've monolithicly ascribed particular traits to instead of accepting that we're all just trying to get along in the world in our own ways. You have a right to pursue your goals and values, just as I do.
I read this article earlier and thought of you and this conversation we're having. Hope after you bash me for posting from the huffington post, you find something you can identify with in here:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joe-scarbo...
tok242,
I will read your article although I seldom care for anything in the Huffingtonpost (for reasons I suspect you are hesitant to listen to Rush Limbaugh) only because you ask me to.
Yes, I do tend to see 'things political' in monochromatic shades of light and dark. This is in a way odd because I have had some art history, appreciation, drawing and painting courses (enough so to consider myself a beginning 'artist'). Yes, I sometimes get 'strident' (especially when someone attacks me personally for daring to express a view contrary to their own).
I do not insist that you believe in my religion or my politics; I just ask the same courtesy I suspect you expect. Respect my views and refrain from rideculing my beliefs and I will attempt to do the same; I don't mind if you have a 'different perspective' on the political world but I do get tired of the variations on the themes from others of "Sara is stupid," "Sara is immoral," "Sara is 'politically illiterate'," etc.
I might be persuaded to "tone down" my rhetoric regarding Barack Obama if others could be persuaded to reply "in kind" (in a civil tone and a courteous manner) regarding my political beliefs and values (not to mention my religious convictions)...
"Heat, humidity, bugs, snakes, and alligators"...
Doug, you are making me homesick.
glow,
The only thing I miss about Florida is my sisters, my son and his wife and my grandsons...
Amazing people complain about all the stories about Sarah, but when I checked the most popular stories three are about her.
I don’t really believe Sarah is stupid, politically illiterate, or even a fiscal conservative.
Sarah stupid or politically illiterate? Not comparatively, she seemed to convince bunch of people she’s a fiscal conservative. She did it well enough to convince people on both sides of the isle.
I could have the a skewed point of view, but shouldn’t a fiscal conservative be more than a person who refers to people as communist, socialist, or when their nice a friend to big government?
How big were Sarah’s budgets? What we took in or what was proposed is completely irrelevant. Did she not lay claim to giving Alaskans additional money during the GOP convention? No she didn’t dig into her pocket, the money came from the government. Are we to believe fiscal conservatives like government handouts?
Again Sarah isn’t stupid, or politically illiterate to the contrary she a classic politician.
Doug,
I dislike Palin. I think she is a poor representation of America, was an ineffective governor, and would be a bad President.
I do not think she is stupid, immoral, politically illiterate or the like, regardless of how her views differ from mine.
I think you'll find that the vast majority of those who are unhappy with Palin take an attitude similar to mine. I hereby request that you do the same regarding Obama. Please don't equate dislike of Palin with a love of Obama. Please don't interpret sarcasm and humor as honest political discourse (most of Oh Please's comments). Please don't respond to "I hate Palin," with "Well, I hate Obama." It gets old awfully fast.
I have to comment on one more thing: "Respect my views and refrain from rideculing my beliefs and I will attempt to do the same." Based on your past comments, that would seem to exclude Muslims.
No artichoke, the money did not "come from the government" It came from the development of natural resources that are owned by the people of Alaska. I know it is confusing to you but the government does not own the people or the land. The people own the land and we elect representatives to manage it for us. If you want an example of money that comes from the govt. that would be the "stimulus" money that so far has stimulated only the printing presses. That it govt money.
"Again Sarah isn’t stupid, or politically illiterate to the contrary she a classic politician." Wow, a liberal who finally gets it.
Around here political discourse consists of blaming Bush and Rush for everything. But OK, I'll bite. Explain to me how massive govt spending along with massive govt debt, combined with increasingly restrictive govt regulations will stimulate the economy. And by the economy I mean private enterprise. We can't all work for, or be taken care of by, the govt. I will concede that the Republicans share half the credit for the curent mess but now what?
roadtrip
I am not disputing you on resources, but couldn’t you also consider money a resource?
So Sarah took resources (that belonged to the people) and redistributed it in a different form (money). Obama also took a resource (that belonged to the people), just plain money are redistributed it and Sarah “was” aghast.
My ultimate point is no matter the media hype, the partisan bickering. Sarah is a politician, she’s fluent in “good ole boy”.
The current economic mess? You forgot to mention Bill Clinton he had a role to play in this mess.
About the stimulus, we had two things drilled into us
One, our elected representatives are leaders, hence we should follow them.
Two, they can save us from terrorist, communist, or whatever.
If a person leads you, you surrender your freedom, is Sarah, Obama, or whoever worth it?
Also for the most part politicians can’t save you. They can have policies that would ensure people don’t die or become harmed. But in the real world there's very little they can save you from.
Specifically about the stimulus, some of it was well thought out, and seemed to work. Other parts so far have seemed to do nothing but incurred debt. Still work or not, look for a consistent chain.
If anyone can lift the partisan haze from their eyes, they would notice that both the D’s and R’s got us into this mess. And both the D’s and R’s are brainstorming up harebrained ideas to get us out of it.
Money is a medium of exchange, it is not a resource, and if you try to treat it like a make believe resource and just start printing it you will devalue it. No, money is not a resource. Oil, gold, water, wealth, innovation, and hard work are examples of a resource.
The state sold our oil and let us keep some of the money, yes.
The federal govt took money that belonged to one person and gave it to someone else and you are OK with that. Fine.
As far as the “good ole boy” concept that is an arbitrary and undefinable idea. Did Palin not upset the status quote during her rapid accent to power? Yes. Is she a “good ole boy”? No.
Did Clinton play a role role in this mess? You tell me.
About the stimulus, we had two things drilled into us,
1. Capitalism is the problem
2. Government controll is the answer.
An example of a part of the stimulus that is working might be helpful. And don't quote Biden because he doesn't even believe his own BS.
Military organizations and cheerleading squads need "leaders".
What this country needs is for govt to get the heck out of the way so Americans can do what they do best, work.
“The state sold our oil and let us keep some of the money, yes. The federal govt took money that belonged to one person and gave it to someone else and you are OK with that. Fine.”
Where did I say I was? A point could be made about government hand outs, or not spending it but…
"As far as the 'good ole boy' concept that is an arbitrary and undefinable idea. Did Palin not upset the status quote during her rapid accent to power? Yes. Is she a “good ole boy”? No."
Did I say that or are you trying to imply I said it? I said “Sarah is a politician, she’s fluent in “good ole boy”.” If I am fluent in Spanish, does that make me Spanish?
I could continue rebut and clarify on this issue, but it seems you’ll provide me with my answers, some how I am not surprised.
Henry,
"I think you'll find that the vast majority of those who are unhappy with Palin take an attitude similar to mine. I hereby request that you do the same regarding Obama. Please don't equate dislike of Palin with a love of Obama. Please don't interpret sarcasm and humor as honest political discourse (most of Oh Please's comments). Please don't respond to 'I hate Palin,' with 'Well, I hate Obama.' It gets old awfully fast."
Agreed, it does get old, fast. Now, if only you and I and a hundred others or so (who normally and frequently post on the DNM Website could only follow our own advice)...
Regarding my comment "Respect my views and refrain from rideculing my beliefs and I will attempt to do the same..." and your comment, "...that would seem to exclude Muslims" I can only add that there have been a number of emails that I have received in the last year or so that 'showcase' Muslim anger and hostility. There are 6 or 7 photographs in them (I think). I've had at least 5 or 6 friends forward them to me. I've seen them so many times that I usually ignore them now when someone else forwards them to me (because I've seen them already). I would guess that you must have seen them (if you haven't contact me directly and we can arrange for me to send them to you).
They were taken in London and display signs like, "BEHEAD THOSE WHO INSULT ISLAM," "EXTERMINATE ALL THOSE WHO SLANDER ISLAM," "EUROPE IS A CANCER - ISLAM IS THE ANSWER," "ISLAM WILL DOMINATE THE WORLD" (and there are others). Islam has been around for about 1,400 years and the very premise of the religion is "Submission" which means that its followers not only "submit" (to the will of allah) but are determined to "force you to submit" (also to the will of allah).
Islam is monolithic in that there are two branches (the Sunnis and the other sect that comes too close to a profane word that the DNM will not allow me to use). The Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox religions were the same way until about the 15th Century and then we had something called the Protestant Reformation (and the main Catholic Church was no longer the “Voice that Speaks for God”). Part of the reason that we have "Freedom of Religion" (as well as "Freedom FROM Religion") was due - in my view - to the Protestant Reformation. Some of the ideas that eventually led to the Enlightenment Period grew out of the Reformation.
Cont’d
I accept all other religions (except Islam); Catholics, LDS (Mormans), Jehovah’s Witness, Jews, Hindu, Buddhist, Native American Spirit Worship, Voodoo, others I can’t even think of right now, I DON’T CARE (as long as they allow me to worship my God in my way).
My "acceptance" of Islam IS CONDITIONAL! You are absolutely RIGHT! Other nations where Islam has taken hold have repeatedly demonstrated their proclivity to grow peacefully UNTIL they achieve numerical equality and THEN they become DOMINANT and AGGRESSIVE! I will accept them ONLY as long as they allow me to practice my FAITH in MY WAY! When they start killing people indiscriminately, their own as well as others, then we are at war. Oh, wait a minute, what am I talking about; THEY ARE ALREADY DOING THAT. THEY ARE ALREADY AT WAR WITH US (ONLY YOU DON’T SEEM TO REALIZE IT)!
So, Yes, my acceptance of Islam is MOST CERTAINLY CONDITIONAL!!!
Somewhere, on the other side of the world, some Muslim guy who sounds just like Doug is running down Christianity...
OP,
The difference is that I'm not killing everybody and his/her brother because they are not Christian...
...and cutting off an infidels head.
...or shooting an abortion doctor.
I seem to remember Duhbya referring to the Iraq invasion as a 'Crusade'. How do you think that played in the Middle East?
Anyone remember that little thing called the Inquisition?
Oh Snap! You're really on the ball with your comparisons and "seem to remembers" this morning!
OP, arguing with slogans is useless and most of your points are out of context. I seem to remember a massive attack on unarmed New Yorkers that killed 3,000 innocent souls. The Muslim world was lucky that there was no "Crusade". If the leaders of this country had anything resembling a pair we would have declared total and complete war on the lot of them on 9-12-01. FDR had it right, WWII lasted 4 years. Bushama will drag this one out for 12 years.
Doug
Are you saying your problem with Muslims is they have shown hostility towards beliefs other than theirs?? Can we also assume that people of other belief sets haven’t? These people include Christians and the others you have mentioned?
Please try to stay on topic this time, though duck hunting can be a fun past time. It try has nothing to do with the subject at hand.
OP,
Christians try to act like Christ; they collect and donate food to feed the hungry, provide clothing to and build shelters for the poor and homeless, and build hospitals to take care of the sick and injured.
You remember Katrina? The hurricane? Well Southern Baptists had set up portable feeding kitchens (and I've no doubt that other Christian Relief Organizations were there too) before the Federal, State, Parish, or City were set up to do anything.
What is it again that you do?
Oh, BTW, Christians don't shoot abortion doctors. Sometimes people who were raised to think they were Christian and become angry at those to make money from the misfortune and misery of scared, unfortunate young women do BUT people who've had a "personal experience" with the God, or Jesus, or the Holy Spirit (or the "Flying Spaghetti Monster" to you I imagine) DON'T kill Abortion Doctors.
aktrucido,
"Are you saying your problem with Muslims is they have shown hostility towards beliefs other than theirs?? Can we also assume that people of other belief sets haven’t? These people include Christians and the others you have mentioned?"
I will try to stay "on topic" for you but sometimes I have to 'illustrate my point' and to do that I tell stories; sorry if you think that's "duck hunting".
Yes, Christian have "had trouble" in past times with others who didn't believe what they did (or didn't interpret Biblical scripture precisely the way that they did). When's the last time Christians went to war with other people who were 'nominally' Christian over points of theology (WITHOUT any other factor involved)? I'm guessing it was two hundred plus years ago at least. I could be wrong; if you think I am, cite verifiable historical examples please.
When's the last time Muslims went to war over points of Muslim theology (WITHOUT any other factors involved - other than the unfortunate people they were murdering NOT being Muslim)? A few weeks ago? A few months ago? Do you remember a group called the Janjueed (probably didn't spell it right), the Muslim Militia who has murdered hundreds of thousands in a place call Darfur?
Don't preach to me about Christian attrocities when Christian attrocities are a matter of history (long-past history) WHILE THE MUSLIMS are engaged in attrocities against Christians TODAY!
When Bush used the term "crusades" it was in the context of a crusade against terrorists and terrorism. He probably made the point a thousand times that we, as a nation, had no beef with Islam. How it was reported to Muslim people was up to their interpreters of words and events.
However, since BHO and Homeland Secretary Napolitano have declared that there are no longer terrorists or terrorism in Obamaspeak, the point is moot. Obama's charm will pacify all possible enemies, eventually. If we survive.
Everybody in the world would love us if only...
http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx...
You have to wait for the congresswoman at the end to get the full effect.
Hysterical Whine -- "Anyone remember that little thing called the Inquisition?"
Pardon me, but may I just type "OMG!" This has got to be the Mother of all Buh, Buh, Buts --- the Inquisition!
I think you should reach back further in time. Let's blame it on the Babylonians and their problem with internal communications.
“Don't preach to me about Christian attrocities when Christian attrocities are a matter of history (long-past history) WHILE THE MUSLIMS are engaged in attrocities against Christians TODAY!”
What I have seen of religious violence, it often has deep roots and it’s often been done by an opposing religious group in retaliation for something. Often followers have no resemblance to the religion they are supposedly following.
Like in Nigeria, when Christians reacted against Muslims because of earlier Muslim rioting. Far as I can tell this was like ever other riot and the people involved did not go after specific people who partook in the people in the riot.
“ILAGOS, Nigeria — Christian mobs rampaged through a southern Nigerian city Tuesday, burning mosques and killing several people in an outbreak of anti-Muslim violence that followed deadly protests against caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad over the weekend (Anti-Muslim Backlash Turns Deadly in Nigeria Tuesday, February 21, 2006 Fox news)”
Has there been recent violence against Muslims?
"Terror against Terror" a Jewish terror group carried out terror attacks in Israel
(Middle East History: It Happened in June; Jewish Terrorists Try to Assassinate Three Palestinian Mayors The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs June 30, 1999)
Baruch Goldstein shot and killed unarmed Muslims while they were praying
A TIME TO KILL; Baruch Goldstein Practiced Medicine - And Murder - by the Book The Washington Post March 20, 1994 Laura Blumenfeld
Also why are Muslims so special? Why are they singled out? Are they sole aggressors against Christians?
What about the religious strife in India. Like the incident where Hindus attacked Christians, during a Christian celebration ("Hindus attack Christians on Indian island" Sunday, February 01, 2009 By Nirmala Carvalho Spero News - USA)
Oh, yes, that reminds me - the Inquisition! Yes, Christians get blamed for something that occurred between 600 and 700 years ago as if we just did it yesterday while the Liberal Democrats can't remember (or perhaps it's that they do not recognize) the religious persecution and murder committed by the Muslims earlier this week!!!
Christians try to act like Christ; they collect and donate food to feed the hungry, provide clothing to and build shelters for the poor and homeless, and build hospitals to take care of the sick and injured.
Yes they do. Christianists, on the other hand...
aktrucido,
I'm sorry, was there a question there that you seriously expect me to answer in that diatribe?
As long as Muslims continue to murder others (for no other reason than because they aren't Muslim), I DON'T CARE if they get killed in return!
What other religious minority was arrested last week for plotting to set of bombs in the United States?
I almost can't wait for her to run for pres...it will be the most hilarious campaign ever...let us remember her words from her QUITTING speech...
"It is as throughout Alaska that big wild teeming along the road that is north to the future"....Sarah Palin.
HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!
Ummmm what was this story about? I just went thru thirty minutes of Racism, Islam, Obama, the Spanish Inquisition, Florida, Southern Baptists, and the IOC.
Forget school, I'll just get all my "learnin" here in the comment section.
Going Rogue....in other words..."I don't know what i am doing or saying and i don't really care as long as i look good"....
The Last time i saw a woman made up like that she was standing on two street during the pipeline years making $$$. Really, i do not find her attractive at all...she is creepy and scares the children with her face...sorry, sometimes the truth hurts. She's not ugly, but, she IS NOT attractive. As far as inside beauty, definitely NONE!!! She is the scarecrow on the wizard of Oz...
Please DOUG, no hate mail to my inbox AGAIN please. Thank You!
JUST SAY NO TO PALIN AND HER TRAILER PARK FAMILY...
The best thing that ever happened to Alaska was her seeing past Alaska to the pot of gold that she could make book deals, speaking...etc. Can we say communist CHINA??? Thanks for leaving
Sarah !! We don't miss you....
(This comment was removed by the Newsminer.com staff. Please see our User Agreement for further information.)
TAC...isn't Bonnie Williams a republican??? I think...
I can't possibly take time to read every comment or dribble against Sarah, but I do support her.
I just want to say to B4Real, your definition 4 is what I think Sarah was thinking when she selected the title. After all, what is the symbol of the Republican Party?
Give her a chance, she will help to straighten out our country.
I know you liberal 'kooks' don't think anything is wrong, just get you head out of the sand and take a good look at our USA.
POOR LITTLE TUNA...tell your girlfriend to go clean that thing!!! HAHAHAHA...maybe people in Florida don't bathe properly???
Poor tuna, did i make you upset, talking about Sarah??? Maybe she can move to Florida!!! I'll vote for that...snicker...
BigRob,
I was angry at you until someone explained that you're a shill for the Hard-Leftist Democrat "Machine" and Big Unions (so I guess you just can't help being what you are).
Oh, what are you? An arrogant, pompous, windbag and a bald-faced liar.
If you have hate mail I've sent you, post it. If I used "potty-mouth" words be sure to bleep them out (you know, ****) so you don't get deleted (AGAIN). If I recognize my words, I will admit it and apologize; if I don't I will call you what I already know you are - again - a liar...
Oh, forgot - ha, ha, ha...
See, BigRob, I can use small words for your benefit.
STERN/BABABOOEY2012!!!
BigRob,
I want to caution you to be careful; I can imagine that little vein on your forehead, just before where the hairless scalp of your receding hairline begins, throbbing. You want to be careful of that high blood pressure; you might have an aneurism.
Wouldn't want you to keel over dead; Sara and I would miss you (Not).
HA, HA, HA...
PALIN/BACHMANN 2012 !!!!!!!!
BigRob,
Come on partner, are you "asleep at the switch" like other Union Bosses tend to spend their days?
BigRob,
Sorry, can't wait around here all day waiting for you to 'sound out the words' - I have other errands to run...
I'll check in with you later to see if you've had any luck with any of my vocabulary (oh, sorry, that 'big words' for you)...
Liberals are going to go after someone who they're afraid of the most, trying to brain wash the republicans into voting someone else. Can you say Bobby Jindal's a threat? Tim Pawlenty? McCain? Huckabee? Romney? Nope. Liberals nationwide are going after Palin. If she was no threat to them they wouldn't bother. Liberal media will do anything to not get her elected. She was one of few Governors to actually shrink the Government and have a surplus and cut wasteful spending. Huckabee? Big government. Romney? Same. So is Jindal and Pawlenty. Bush? Biggest government and biggest spender in history that contributed to this mess. Unlike Obama who needed Oprah and liberal media to become who he was, Palin doesn't need any of that. Alaska's in great standing right now after Palin, unless your a liberal and you want more spending like Obama. Parnell is even following her path, and liberals aren't saying crap about it. Proves it was more about politics when they were after Sarah than political issues when they were after her. Remember conservatives, don't be brainwashed by liberals. They'll do anything, everything to change your mind. There are even liberals who were never republicans who'll say,'I was a republican or independent until she became the VP candidate' to try and change your mind. I have so many friends like that who were liberals the whole time. You can tell Palin's the best candidate by just how much hate she gets from the hard left.
You wrote back that i was a liar and what i said about Bush wasn't true....and no one told you anything about me, all you have to do is look up my posts, so who's the liar...???
Let's see, i said Bush was drunk and fell and hit his head...the news was he choked on something and passed out.?? Right...
The other thing was when he was out looking for "bugs" on his ranch...drunk again....
AND YOU WENT BERSERKO...thought you were going to have a fit...
Sorry, but it's true...he still drinks like a fish...
Now let's talk about Sarah and Todds friends divorce, or don't you want to go there either???
No secret emails now Doug...lets keep this right here......
Oh, one more thing...Sarah knows nothing about fishing...that's a fact!
Apologize to me??...NO THANKS...WOULDN'T ACCEPT IT!
Also, there are about 8 LIBERALS that blog here under one name...
Doug, the problem with your dislike of Muslims is this: Some Muslims are not representative of all Muslims. Because some Muslims are evil terrorists does not mean that all Muslims are evil terrorists.
There currently are (or seem to be) more evil Muslims than evil Christians or whatever other religion, but that's immaterial. Quantity in this case doesn't matter, unless it's a significant majority, which, of course, it isn't.
A good example of evil "Christians" is the Lord's resistance Army, active in Uganda, and listed as a terrorist organization by the US. No, they're not good Christians, or even Christians at all. Just like Al Queda are not good Muslims or even Muslims at all.
I'll agree with you that as long as Muslim terrorists continue to kill people or plot to kill people, I have no problem with those terrorists being killed in return. I do, however, have a problem with lumping an entire religion in with a few whackjobs. Imagine if I proposed to kill all Christians based on the actions of the Lord's Resistance Army? the Irish Republican Army?
Uh oh, kwigster....:
BigRob-
Have you any proof of your allegations about Bush's drinking? Any news articles corroborating what you say?
One conservative forum, 2 to 3 years early, does not make a nominee.
Just so there's no confusion, I don't think Palin will be the nominee, but that doesn't detract at all from kwigster05's comments. It's not necessarily Palin that the left, and willing accomplices in the mainstream media, want to marginalize. It's whoever disagrees with the left. It's also most Republicans and all conservatives. Even John McCain and Lindsey Graham, if they get too critical.
There is no room for dissent against the left. Dissent is to be ridiculed, then crushed.
The victimhood is strong in you, old man...
Sorry, Dipper, that wasn't fair of me. I'm just tired of all the conspiracy stuff...
Hey, Annie, nice to see you!
Ak1958, welcome back...let's do this thing..heehee!
Blah blah blah.
The economy is not responding well to the stimulus, I called that. Obama has yet to make any hard decisions. Speeches yes, decisions, no. This time next year unemployment will be 15% and the dow will be around 5,000. And even if you make less then $250,000, your taxes will be going up. Yep, good times ahead, and we can all have fun blaming Bushama.
“I'm sorry, was there a question there that you seriously expect me to answer in that diatribe?
Uh yes you are sorry, remember acceptance is the first step and no I was answering your question.
Also what about the folks in New Guinea who followed the fine Christian tradition of burning witches ("Woman suspected of witchcraft burned alive" CNN Thu January 8, 2009)
What’s really wacky is the UN issue a report saying this is increasingly happening across the globe (Killing of women, child "witches" on rise,U.N. told" By Robert Evans, Wed Sep 23, 2009, Reuters)
I am willing to accept burning of people isn’t part of Christianity, but you’re still willing to make exceptions in the case of Islam.
"What other religious minority was arrested last week for plotting to set of bombs in the United States?"
Following your example I will answer this. How did everyone do with moose hunting this year?
BigRob -- "BigRob is a group of people, not a person...ROTFL"
Yet, it is only sparingly curious that each BigRob is as equally semi-literate as the other. Must be all that ROTFL-ing going on.
BigRob -- I'd like to add that Sarah line you keep posting to my "Quotable gaffes" list. Can you post a link to your source, please?
one of the big rob group is a large woman wearing thigh high boots carrying a riding crop, one is on work release from gitmo, one works for acorn and a couple of them do under cover work for peta.
Palin is more intelligent than her detractors, which continues to become more apparent as time goes on.
Three more years of a naive, unqualified, egotist, who needed a communist terrorist to write his book, and cannot speak coherently without a teleprompter as president.
Eight people in the BigRob syndicate, and never a coherent, original thought amongst the whole group. How pathetic is that?
Oh_please-
I accept your apology.
Henry & Aktrucido,
I'll get back to you later; I'm having too much fun discussing 'BigRob' imaginary friends...
Ahhh, Fairbanks is such a lovely (dirt hole) place with such friendly (not behind your back) people with open minds (so long as you think their way) and are tolerant of all different cultures (except anything South of Nenana and North of Olnes).
I can tell by this commentary y'all are gonna have a very long, dark season ahead. I hope your narrow minds keep you toasty this winter.
Ahhh, there is nothing like the soft blanket of ignorance and a coat of denial to make you feel all warm and fuzzy!
the big rob group meets weekly kneel on their prayer rugs facing d.c. and pray to their lord and master barak. then they imbibe kool-aid liberally and collapse in ecstacy.
lighten up samiam, there ain't nothing serious going on here. at least not if i have anything to do with it.
She's looking towards Russia because she can see Russia from her house!
Doug, let's just call it even. BigRob and his Merry Men are much more amusing.
There is no God but the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Thanks for the update! All this time I was under the impression the
prophet was Lin Guini! I stand corrected! :)
Ahhh, the Pasta Gods! I had almost lost all hope for love, acceptance and understanding in this community. All bow to G'noc Chi!
you people, probably rock out to the flaming spaghetti o's.
pretty shrewd move tac, bringing religion back into the conversation.
OK, now it's my turn to use someone else's work to make a point. A funny point.
To bad the liberals were wrong about this one......
Chicago could have used some divine intervention. Come to think of it the economy could too.
yes roadtrip, I know but I though if I used that it might hurt their feelings and I didn't want to offend any monkeys out there plus my comments would be removed.The left wing progressive Democrat liberal nut jobs like that term so much I felt it was time to put it to use.
mmm mmm mmm Barack Hussein Obama
He said to make this country strong again
we all must lend a helping hand
mmm mmm mmm Barack Hussein Obama
American Flag, obviously she's forgotten Alaska already...should've been an Alaskan Flag...quite telling she's long forgotten about us.
I plan to reserve judgement on "Going Rogue" until I have read a copy. Since it would be the first book I will have ever read that is ostensibly by Sarah Palin, I'll probably look to borrow it. That is my approach with all first time reads by a particular author. If it amuses me or provides thought provoking ideas or is otherwise entertaining, I'll promote that author and any of their subsequent books to "will buy their book without prior review" status.
It's similar to my approach to life in general (e.g. religion): Show me the repeatable evidence, otherwise I will form little or no opinion or belief, leaving it in the "unproven fairytale" category...something everyone is entitled to believe - if they are so inclined.
Ooops - did I just wander from the topic that has been so eloquently avoided and awash in digression by 99% of all other postings to this thread???? ;)
to the large woman with the boots and riding crop in the big rob group, you are entitled to your opinion regarding sarah palins looks, but, i think she is a very good looking woman. you might want to have your eyes tested.
Dipper: Are you trying to make people Mad?
Rick -- I think that OP would prefer to dwell on the Inquisition... if you don't mind.
I have been calling people out on the use of that derogatory term for the last year. Good to see that the FDNM has finally agreed with me.
Go Sarah Go. There are many in Alaska that are so very proud of you. They just don't lower them selves to argue with the scum buckets that got nothing better to do except to bash you. Go Sarah Go.
The quote was from her...ummm..."going away speech"???
I picked up an insert type paper while entering a new, very chic restaurant in Anchorage. They had about 100 of these papers stacked up at the front door. Quite surprised. I will scan it and post it here tomorrow, if i have time.
I apologize for my odious children, they are just playing the game like everyone else..i've tried to teach them to be nice and tolerant, but, kids learn by example and this is some of what they are learning from people like you, if that was a good thing, i would thank you, but, it's not...
Wonder if her jacket was made in China? No BP or Arctic Cat logo either
SARAH and RUSH 2012!
I said..knock it off and i meant it!!!
I heard part of her China speech and it was so embarrassing..she was stumbling on her words and people actually got up and walked out...
What the heck does she have to say to the communists that they want to hear...so silly!! I believe that her ignorance of worldly affairs could actually be dangerous!
Do you remember the good old days?
http://z.about.com/d/politicalhumor/1/0/...
Seems like just yesterday.
BigRob-
I have no idea as to where you might have seen a tape of Palin's Hong Kong speech. The little snippit here was off an AP writer's cell phone, and it's the only one that I've seen. Please link to your copy of her presentation.
The partial transcript in this article might be a conservative message, but it is by no means disjointed or hesitant or embarrassing.
http://chinadigitaltimes.net/2009/09/pal...
You, on the other hand turn your posts into a left wing Sesame Street, and have the gall to turn around and blame it on us. Nice try.
akbob - you do your share of bashing....oh you don't count?
The Chinese are smarter than Palin...her speech was recorded it will LEAK out if she decides to run...you watch...she only thinks she smart.
Her commie speech will come back to haunt her.....nothing like paying your bills with red money...she must realize her legal debt may rise or like some other people do - ya know, MILK IT.
AK1958-
Bill Clinton and Al Gore have previously been speakers for this same investment group in Hong Kong. Do you have a similar opinion about the fees that they accepted?
Big Dip - Neither are considering running for Prez
In an attempt to paint Palin in a bad light 1958 writes, "nothing like paying your bills with red money". Thank you 1958. That folks is what we call liberal logic. Um, 1958, which country holds most of the debt that the US has incurred during the last 20 years? In other words, which country has paid for the American welfare system which includes medicaid and medicare? Which country is going to finance Bushama's stimulus program, and god forbid, nationalizing health care? Hint, it ain't us.
I looked up hypocrisy in the dictionary and there was a picture of you.
Hmmm...
What???...in the snip, she was rambling...and people walked out, according to the news.
Did you know that as a child she dreamed about natural gas? Her words.
The best thing she could do to really help her state was to quit her job 17 months early. Her reasoning.
The road to hell is paved with republiCONs!
Sarah promises to shore up the economy by reigning in spending under healthcare reform and reducing taxes under the umbrella of job creation.
If you guys here are so keen on people intelligence level, why don't you notice her deficiencies?? Hmmm...
Anyone...anyone???
The Democrats/Liberals/Progressives/Obama empire it's starting to crumble down and it's getting to a point their controlled part of the media can't do anything about it. You don't have to go to Fox News anymore to get the scoop on their gaffes, misleading and lies, so can't use the excuse of the "Repub Wing Nuts" blah, blah. Many of the news entities however, still choose to publish front page stuff about an ex-McCain staffer bad-mouthing Palin while burying anything negative about Obama as usual. Or they try to divert attention by posting more who-cares-crap about Jon & Kate..... Pathetic!
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/banks-bai...
How about them Olympics?! LOL
But wait a minute! I thought when the Bush administration tried to explain the same, the liberals just screamed until they turned blue about "Get the troops back home now!" (yeah right, like they cared anyways). And Obama/Pelosi PROMISED!
And now "pulling out" of Afghanistan while sending more troops is NOT an "option" ????
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/...
Go figure, I didn't know anybody could flip-flop and back-pedal at this magnitude without it being detrimental to their reputation. I guess that's part of the perks about the main stream media and your followers having a blind slobbering affair with you Mr. Obama.....
JETorres - Didn't see your butt out selling America for the Olympics!!! All you bashers are all mouth. Got a job? health insurance? if not do something about it, you're so dang smart you figure it out.
The Olympics would have brought JOBS to Chicago AND building supplies from all over America, so if you're gonna bash our President for his efforts you are bashing America. The world didn't stop turning because Obama traveled to Copenhagen.
Faux FOX News does promote hate, they are bias and unfair, fake woman, fake tans, fake news...all slanted and misleading. They have a tone and anger when reporting their propaganda. They needed to bring it down a notch and stop the hostel reporting.
Some more right here at home:
http://www.thealaskastandard.com/content...
I didn't care to have the Olympics here in the USA AGAIN! Let the historical milestone of South America hosting them for the first time! What's wrong about that?
Most of the building and jobs would've been temporary anyway and would've been paid by rasing some kind of taxes and I bet a lot of the jobs and money would've gone to Obama's cronies and people from out of state and even out of country.
You want to talk about hate, check out your headquarters for news: CNN and you'll see the hate in their articles and forums about anything and anybody that doesn't back their agenda 110%......
The world is changing everyday.....God knows the war my escalate and more troops will be needed in Afghanistan....Obama doesn't let emotion or hysteria dictate. So if troop build-up is necessary it's OCTOBER 2009 not the campaign trail of 2008. Our needs have changed and to keep our men safe things may change. The angry man that doesn't see this is evil, if you are wishing Americas failure God help you.
It's not a promise Obama is breaking it's some Americans belief that the world stopped when he became president. Let President Obama be our President, stop the hate, we need to work as a country and pull ourselves our of a economic crisis and protect our country and it's people. The fear in our leadership is evil driven by those destroying America because they didn't get someone elected of their chosing, sad and scary.
AK1958: The real question is: WHY Obama didn't get his butt over there sooner and longer to promote this, if it's THAT important? No, he went there last minute and all he talked about was himself, his administration, bad-mouth the past administration, apologize some more for our "American ways" and just basically gave the usual rhetorical political speech that he's used to when he doesn't have a teleprompter or two in front of him.
Go read it directly from the Committee themselves about how inappropriate they thought his speech was. He said nothing about promoting the sports and spirit that the games are supposed to be about. Obama made it about getting "redemption" for our country (and himself, did I mentioned that already?) when it's only liberals like him promoting most of the negativity against our country and then try to reverse it and apologize for it at the same time....
Insanity at best.....
@AK1958: Another hypocritical liberal plea: "Let's work together as a country blah blah". If you cared so much about "OUR" country, how come especially liberals didn't work together with the rest of the country when Bush was president? Oh, that's different, right? Because you people wanted Bush to fail and now you want Obama to succeed and that's why "WE" need to work together for "OUR" country, right? So you and your party can redeem yourselves, right?
EVERYBODY had to put up with the Bush-haters for 8 long years and the criticizing and ridicule of his every move. Now the Obama lovers are already getting tired and breaking down about the more deserved criticisms of 'their' guy in just 8 months?
Again, insanity at best.....
AK19568 said: "Obama doesn't let emotion or hysteria dictate. So if troop build-up is necessary it's OCTOBER 2009 not the campaign trail of 2008."
Excuses and back-pedaling. He was elected BASED on many things like this and "ending the war" was one of them. He's doing the opposite of what he said in many fronts. If it's OK for him to do, then you guys will have to take back the 8 long years of whining about Bush.....
CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!
I've voted REPUBLICAN since 1968, yep NIXON......don't tell me I didn't do my part.....27 yr VET, 2 sons ACTIVE DUTY one has gone twice the other 5 TIMES to Iraq and I volunteer locally Republican Chairperson = NO PAY.......2008 was the biggest fiasco the RNC could muster, don't talk flip flop, just look at Alaska and you see what poor governing result we have.
We are fighting amongst ourselves NOT for country but out of anger because we didn't get a Republican in the White House. Divide this country with your hate then the Dem's will continue and you'll live in your hate filled world. Do something, stop the bashing, that instant gratification is H.S. locker room antics. Grow up and get involved. Contact your Rep. or Senator and do something just stop the pissin' and moaning and finger pointing.
Oh and while you're at it, go ahead and start on your speech for the Olympic committee for the next Winter Olympics, let's see how well you do, bring it to Anchorage.
Yay! Rio deserves the Olympics, whereas, Chicago.... oh, WTH, I'm so bored with Chicago/Obama/Palin.
Still waiting for the Troopergate testimony by Palin and all that accountability and transparency....can't have it both ways you betcha! Alaskans let Palin reign, what a sorry mess we have now and a giveaway of 500K. Disappointed you bet! vindictive no....backpedaling we may if it gets the job done.....Since when are we all so perfect?
Nothing wrong with learning from mistakes.
could it be that nobody wants to make eye contact with you big rob. you may have marginalized yourself by exposing your multiple personalities. maybe you should pull back and try to re-invent yourself or your selves.
I secretly hope it's just a 200 page allegory about a hunting trip and "the one that got away."
BigRob,
"If you guys here are so keen on people intelligence level, why don't you notice her deficiencies?? Hmmm..."
We do notice her deficiencies; it's just that your incoherent rants are much more noticeable (not to mention 'entertaining').
Who am I talking to today BTW?
AK1958, "...just look at Alaska and you see what poor governing result we have."
Can you be very specific on political issues? Just wanna know if your playing politics or not.
I'm going to use it for toilet paper I'm going to wipe my George Bush with Sarah Palin. I will enjoy it one sheet at a time.
So many books about Palin, so little time to spend reading stupid stuff. Let's see... I can get "Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin" for $16.50 new (it's on special) or $1.45 used. I can get "Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down" for $10.95 (also on special), or used for one cent. I can get "Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader" new for $10.19, marked down from $14.99. Or I can get it used for $1.52. "Sarah Palin In Her Own Words" costs $2.99 new--Kindle version only. "Sarah Palin: The Real Deal" would cost me $9.99 new or $4.49 used. "Sarah Palin Poised to Become America's First Female President" is still selling at its original $14.99 rate. "Sarah Palin, A Biography" costs $35 new, but it won't be published until this winter. "Sarah Palin: Faith, Family, Country" costs $9.51 used, or $12.59 new (marked down).
The latest book about Palin, "Going Rogue", is already marked down on amazon.com. Only $15.65 on special.
I was amused to see that amazon.com will pair the book "Catastrophe" with Sarah Palin's autobiography. What message do you think those liberal socialist Palin haters at amazon.com are trying to send when they list "Going Rogue: An American Life" next to "Catastrophe"?
The "catastrophe" in the title "Catastrophe" has to do with Obama's policies. The book, by Dick Morris, is a reasonable selection to be paired for selling with Palin's book. Oh, I'm sorry. That was supposed to be a joke. Ho ho ho...that's really funny, glow. That left wing humor, it gets me every time.
Glad to see the DNM got a bit more mileage out of a washed-up politician.
The "rogue" definition sums it up! Thank you B4Real. Sarah is only out for Sarah. Hardly worth a moment.
