Arson
Alaska State Troopers and the North Star Volunteer Fire Department responded to an apparent arson Saturday night at a vacant house for sale on Badger Road.
Several small fires were intentionally started in the house and several windows were broken, according to Sgt. Rick Roberts with troopers.
Witnesses told troopers several juveniles were seen fleeing the scene, one of whom was caught by a neighbor. Troopers interviewed that suspect and have several other suspects in the case they are trying to track down, Roberts said.
Deputy fire chief Steve Crouch at the North Star Volunteer Fire Department said damage from the fires was minimal and was mainly confined to an outside corner of the house.
“It wasn’t much of a fire,” he said. “We put it out with an extinguisher.
Anyone with any information should contact the Alaska State Troopers at 451-5100.
