Hutchison grapplers overturn Eielson

FAIRBANKS — The Hutchison Hawks topped the Eielson Ravens 36-30 in both teams’ Denali Conference high school wrestling opener.

The teams were oddly matched, which resulted in nine bouts won by forfeit and a double forfeit.

Eielson took three of the four contested matches as Wyatt Dunlap pinned Hutch’s David Anderson in the 135-pound class, Matthew Rogers defeated Corey Upton by decision at 145 pounds and Jeff Starcher earned a decision win at 160 pounds against Billy Kozevnekoff.

Hutchison got a victory from Rudy Martinez in the 140-pound class, pinning Charles Renner.

The Hawks earned points from six forfeits and the Ravens took points from three.
