Letter to the Editor
Wilson for mayor
Published Thursday, October 22, 2009
Oct. 19, 2009
To the editor:
I am thankful Tammie Wilson is running for borough mayor. She believes a smaller government works best, and she will work to control the borough spending.
Tammie believes in the individual rights and freedoms of borough residents.
She will oppose forced annexations to the borough, and she also will oppose any attempt to prohibit wood stoves within the borough.
Tammie is the only candidate for borough mayor this year to have been endorsed by the Interior Taxpayers Association. Please join me in voting for Tammie Wilson for borough mayor in the runoff election on Nov. 3.

Tammie is the best choice by far.
go Tammie! yay!!!
Luke voted for the forced annexations --he "listened" to his head rattle! Nothing like know it all intellectuals from UAF forcing their views on to others.
For may years (30?) annexations have only been "with a vote of the people".
----Air quality observation
Yesterday, when I was on the way to town driving down "Steese Hill" - North of Farmers Loop.
I observed 1 wood stove in operation.
There were 3 brush brush piles burning.
----
Carefully read sentence 2 and 3:
"Particulate levels are currently in the Good Air Quality Index range. The 24 hour average of PM-2.5 is 2.9μg/m³ as of 11:00 AM. Yesterday's 24 hour average was 0.0μg/m³."[1]

Luke is backed by the public employee unions; should he be elected Mayor, he will be negotiating labor union pay and benefits with his campaign contributors.
"Yes, public employee union members do live better; because they make campaign donations to politicians who sign their pay checks!" AND! THEY BLOCK VOTE!
Luke needs to disavow their influence!
AND, Give their money to the Salvation Army!
Wilson's inexperience would be exceedingly detrimental and damaging to our borough. Her lack of leadership ability is clear. Support for her is coming only from the extreme fringe, a group she has embraced only because she failed to find support with any mainstream constituency.
jxope7
it is quite possible there here in the fairbanks northstar borough hopkins and you are much closer to being a fringe group than tammie and her supporters. tammie is more like average joe and jane here and i like her. i'm also going to point out that tammie has just as much experience at being a mayor as hopkins has. zero.
jxope7 is obviously a plant for the Hopkins campaign, trying to smear Tammie with the Saul Alinsky ridicule tactic. Democrat dirty tricks. All the more reason to vote for Tammie.
"She believes a smaller government works best."
Lesile, could you or anyone from the Wilson campaign please explain precisely how Wilson will provide smaller government? Will Wilson close the library? Will she close the animal shelter? Will she stop funding ambulance service? Will Wilson close the landfill and store trash in our neighborhoods? Does Wilson plan to shut down the hockey rink and the pool? Wilson just signed off on a three year gold plated contract for unionized borough employees that she has to fund. Does Wilson plan to renege on that contract? Wilson needs to explain just what her plan for smaller government is. Most of us are getting tired of hearing superficial /clichés'. Wilson will either have to renege on the union contracts and get the borough sued or cut borough services. Which one is it? Where's the beef?
Junkyard Tammie Wilson already is a laughingstock behind closed doors.
Other assembly members don't respect her. The majority of the public feels the same way.
Make no mistake; the major issues in this campaign are her lack of experience and inability for cognitive thought. Both areas are sorely lacking.
She appeals to the hillbillies, but that's it.
So why is it that Hopkins is afraid to debate the "Junkyard laughing stock hillbilly" on Micheal Dukes radio today at 4pm??? His campaign manager says ....whaaaaa...."it's not fair"....whine, whine, boo, hoo.
If he's so smart, eloquent, together, blah,blah... you'd think he could handle a couple home grown hicks on a silly radio show for 2 hrs...... But instead he sticks his nose in the air like any other lefty progressive and walks away. Oh, wait...sticks his tail between his legs and runs away.....
The problem is that there are too many liberals in this community & they
will vote for Hopkins. This has become a liberal community, like it or not, that is what we must deal with. So, we must suck it up, accept the facts as they are & deal with the reality as it is! Liberals control the entire State, look at our representives in the Capital.
Alaska in not a conservative State any more either.
Sisu, this is not a liberal community by a long shot. The problem is that the conservatives are too busy with family and work to care about local politics.
AKWLDCAT is obviously working on behalf of the Hopkins campaign. This user just joined and the only comments posted so far are to bash Tammie. It is a shame the Luke has to resort to name calling and can not debate Tammie on the issues. I guess that that is the way Democrats operate these day though.
I'm just glad that I have a candidate that I can vote for without any reservations. Good luck Tammie!
Luke Hopkins was bought and paid for a long time ago. The good ol boys all get kickbacks when the borough does what they want. Get rid of the professional scam artist. I like Junk yard hillbillies, they are real down to earth Americans.
"Luke Listens" Is that why he has refused to do a debate with Tammie Wilson today on local conservative radio. The same station he ran to when the bag tax blew up in his face. Yea, he listens alright, but he is just like Obama only to those he wants to hear. Hopkins will continue the status quo as Dermont Cole said on the Anchorage Edition Sunday, politics as usual which means three more years of Whitaker type politics in this town. The Port Authority wants GVEA to commit to buying gas from them in order to float bonds( Bartos ad) so know we know what his "cheap energy plan is." Hopkins cares, yea he cares about the good old boy family hierarchy he and his brother in law David Guttenberg will create if elected. Union supporters if you want what Begeich did in Anchorage with union contracts then vote for Hopkins and you too will soon find out your contracts are worth nothing, but it got him in office for his real agenda.

When Michael Dukes announced on the air yesterday that Luke would not be participating in the debate he (Dukes) said apparently Luke thought he wouldn't "get a fair shake".
I don't think Luke was so much deterred by the debate with Tammie as the fear of answering the caller's questions. After all you never know what a caller might ask!
Namecalling again? I feel like this is a Bush/Obama race going on (yeah, I know they never ran against each other). Let me tell you all this: most of us are sick of it. It's bad enough the media does it, do you all have to go along with it? I will not be swayed by "junkyard" or by "good old boy network"; I will consider the facts. Oh, and calling others "hillbillies" doesn't do you many favors either AKWILDCAT.
Once again I agree with longhornak. Name calling does no good. This was a good positive letter and I would like to see more of them for each candidate and less attacks. Let the letter writers explain why people should vote for their candidate, not call other people names. Name calling does not endear the undecided voters to anyone's side.
Yesterday's letter by Maria Rensel was a good example of the name calling. Maria is the Executive Director of the Interior Alaska Conservative Coalition, the group which has been endorsing Tammie. Her letter didn't do much to help further Tammie's cause if she is looking for support from the voters who are still undecided and who had supported Garry in the October election.
conservative here...Tammie Wilson is not qualified to serve as borough mayor. Polarmark says "tammie is more like average joe and jane here." Exactly the reason why it won't work at the highest level of the borough. The Assembly can only represent the Interior so much...the mayor needs strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate problems and concerns with those outside the Borough. I am a registered Republican, who for the life of me can't vote for Wilson. She may be a fine human being with the best of intentions...but it takes much, much more than that to be mayor.
KFAR Michael Dukes
My wife and I tunned into your radio talk show in Aug.of this year and found out its the only open talk show where others can call in on many subjects and those running for office. My wife and I can't fathom why Luke Hopkins will not come on your show and debate with Tammie Wilson. Is it you Mr.Dukes or the radio station?
The fact is there would not be any call ins on the Dukes show for the debate. They would be asked a question by Dukes and then discuss it between them. Hopkins again has shown his Obama style politics and I guess the Dukes show is to Hokins what Fox news is to Obama. Hopkins listens only to those who he wants to hear. By the way Wilson will be on for 2 hours this afternoon . Have no idea where Hopkins will be, maybe having coffee with Bartos, Whitaker and Hutchinson.
You're a lot better off researching the facts for yourself vs. voting "against" something or saying, "Only hillbillies are voting for so and so, and I'm a superior human being so I'll vote for blah blah blah." Name-calling just shows you likely have not done much research for yourself and instead you're swallowing what you are spoon fed from your media sources of choice, be it conservative radio, or the Hollywood mouthpieces.
Don't be a puppet. Use your brain. Vote your unblemished, uninfluenced conscience.
Remember, you can still write in Robert Gentleman.
This race is a question of liberal (uh sorry Progressive) or conservative values. It is not a question of party. There are many Republicans (i.e. the Hutchinson crowd) that will vote for Hopkins. Why? Because they share Hopkins liberal values. It is very simple.
This election will tell us one thing. How many liberal and conservative voters there are in the FNSB.
That slick willy politician Fluke Flopkins says he supports honest, responsible budgets, yet during his few years on the assembly, the budget has risen by more than $25 million.
If you want to bring Obama's "change" to Fairbanks, Hopkins, and his liberal special interest groups, are your choice.
Just because people disagree with an extreme view of "conservatism", which is really Libertarian, not Republican, doesn't make them a bad Republican and it certainly doesn't make you a liberal.
Hopefully the vote, no matter which way you vote, will reflect who you think will do the best job at being the elected leader of the Borough, not whether you are a Ron Paul Libertarian like many of Tammie's supporters or liberal, like many of Luke's. Quit trying to divide the community by applying your phony labels. Vote for the candidate that will most reflect your lifestyle and views and quit denegrating the people in this Borough who reflect a different lifestyle.

I see a new troll was born yesterday.
Thus I must ask my standard question:
which union are you pimping for?
Rationalizing liberal behaviour is another common trait of liberal republicans. The Hutchinson crowd (thankfully its a small group and getting smaller as shown by recent election results) likes big government control.
Diane - would love to hear your view on specific issues that your husbands supporters differ from Hopkins supporters. My guess is that there is very little.

-------- comment reply..
I notice we got along fine before the nanny state came into being!
American fought and won WW1, WW2, and the cold war till Regan drove the communists into bankruptcy.
Those who with ability achieved, those who had less less ability reproduced and became a vetoing block looking for better free ride.
Several posters have ask questions directed to Tammie, turn about is fair play???!
*****************
How about a rebuttal to this parable.
*********
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an socialist grading experiment in this class".
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
The class agreed to the experiment agreed to accept the resultant grade.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted
in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
The Question:
So all you UAF students borrowing money from the government for your socialist education~ Are you getting your money's worth or funding your failure?
Garry had a very diverse base supporting him, so some will vote for Luke, some for Tammie. What matters is, "how will the undecided people vote?" That includes alot of people who are good, active members of the Republican party, including myself, who don't know how they will vote. AS I've said before, this is supposed to be a local non-partisan election and I will vote for the person that I think will help our community the most. I won't make that decision until election day and I will base it on all available information. If I could and I had to cast my vote today, I would vote write-in at this point as would many of his undecided supporters. Unfortunately, in a run-off write-in does not appear to be an option, so I will keep myself informed and then make a decision.
Thank you - Diane
dianehutchison
My wife and I like your demeanor.
GO TAMMIE WILSON!
I also want to pollute everyone's drinking water!
I want to build a factory in my backyard that burns excrement for fuel! My neighbors can't care because it is my personal freedom.
My personal freedom is more important than theirs anyway!
*For the newsminer staff, I don't really think that any of this is sarcasm... I truly believe it.*

How times have you been booted before?

"Support for her is coming only from the extreme fringe, a group she has embraced only because she failed to find support with any mainstream constituency."
--- Ha! I am sure she not very popular with the Bag Lady, Luke, the arts and native bunch aka Democrats who are ticked off over her not supporting their property tax exemption cause.
Now tell me! In exchange for thousands of dollars of union donations, what did Luke promise them?
What did he promise his Anchorage donors?
Ahhh, yes! My crystal ball tells me, he promised to plant flowers in the burro parking lot!
Liberal for tammie,
Tammie represents real Alaskan values, in my speaking with her, we certainly don't agree on every issue, but she is able to find the common middle ground that we do agree on. That is why I'm voting for tammie again.
Thank you Diane. I appreciate your support. I also appreciate those who have given me facts to help make my decision. I still haven't made it either.
I also agree with Diane about another thing. This is supposed to be non-partisan. The debate about merits of the two candidates are fine; I just wish the silly middle-school comments would slow down. One quote, "which union are you pimping for?" That is uncalled for.
I think Tammie would be a great mayor of the oxycontin radio listeners of North Pole. I just hold myself to a higher standard, I need more than a trailer park queen for mayor.
One quote, "which union are you pimping for?" That is uncalled for.

Could have been expresed a little more tactfully but the statement is true nonetheless as it applys to Luke. Look at his voting record. Look at the campaign contributions. It all fits together.
slmeline - Your standards are very high indeed.
I am unsure if leadership is a key deciding issue on this vote. A mayor should be able to network and get people to work together. A leader brings to mind someone who barks orders at others and they follow. Maybe some would really relish the loss of this liberty I don’t.
Also if what is alleged is true, that people are belittling “Junkyard Tammie Wilson” behind closed doors. I believe we should demand the offending REPRESENTATIVES resignation, effect immediately. I expect anyone who was elected by the people to show respect and tolerance to everyone. If this is true ( the belittling ) we should give the elected officials time off to address their mental issues.
It doesn’t matter who or how many feel this way. Majorities felt that wayward women should be denied liberties. A majority felt people from other races should not have equal liberties. Was it right then? My opinion is no. Is it right now? Again no. unbelievable as it seems sometime I feel the majority is wrong.
I can only hope Luke doesn’t share the views of some of the posters on this blog.
The position of Borough Mayor is a highly political one. The Mayor does quite a bit of traveling on behalf of the borough and represents all of us at some very powerful meetings, conferences and boards.
Honestly people, do you see Ms. Wilson filling this role? Honestly?
Give me an example of a powerful meeting, conference, and board that it would provide real benefit to FNSB tax payer for our mayor to attend. Whitaker groveling for Obama at the DNC?
My hope is she doesn't do any of that.
Small government!
For those of you who are still undecided please remember Tammie will be on KFAR radio today from 4-6 PM. If they are taking callers questions maybe you can get some of your answers there.
dukit22
Fair question, you could say all members represent us in that way. I could ask, would a person who has all the class of a Middle School bully be able fill this role? Would you really want them to?
That’s what has been described as the conduct of the Assembly in this thread. Anything MS Wilson might do would pale by comparison.
Again I hope this isn’t true and all members act professionally and with respect.
dianehutchinson - your 10:29 post is awesome.
A more comprehensive education would benefit some of the folks on here. Read widely from many different pts of view, get a clue about verifiability, & talk with, respect & spend time w people of differing beliefs, backgrounds, occupations & experiences. Ok, sorry, snarky here: some of you folks should just turn off those tvs & radios for about a decade & start thinking for yourselves. It's frightening to me that these self-proclaimed champions of 'liberty' & 'individualism' (or whatever other stupid buzzwords you're using) haven't a clue about their own country's history but are parroting what's being pipelined to them from corporate interests & extreme shills. That doesn't make me anything except conscientious. Deal w it.
I find it disgusting that one of the regular (& one of the most juvenile & offensive) posters who regularly has something ugly to say about unions owes his entire working life to his union job & benefits (& no, I don't belong to a union). I hate hypocrites. One of the most refreshing things about Fbks, many yrs ago, when I moved here was that there was just very little of that. Tough place - but healthier...
POO...do you really see Tammie walking into Senator Begich or Murkowski or Congressman Young's office representing the FNSB? Do you believe her communication methods (style and tone of speech) would be listened to and accepted in Washington? There are meetings with those outside the Borough that are not only important but necessary. Having a mayor who never leaves the Borough would give the impression of someone who doesn't care enough to lobby and voice the opinion on behalf of the residents. Having her in office would scare me.
Yes I would much rather have Tammie dealing with Begich than Hopkins. Hopefully the first thing she says to him is that he is a fool.
I laugh at the iditos who think that Hopkins is a great spokesman. The guy can barely put thoughts together. But then again, the same folks think that Obama (and his trusty telepromter) is the greatest orator of all time.
POO..See, this is where you make assumptions. I never said Hopkins was a great spokeman...but the better of the two, absolutely. You just said everything I needed to know about you. If you think it is appropriate for a mayor to walk into a US Senator's office and tell him he's a fool...then you need say no more...it's very obvious what your values are for positions of authority and respect. I don't like Senator Begich any more than other conservatives...but in the end, he IS one of our US Senators and should be treated with respect and dignity that the office carries. Walking into his office and calling him a fool...that's exactly why we don't need someone like Tammie Wilson representing us.
I think Tammy is much better communicator than Hopkins. The nice thing about Tammy is she listens (yeah I know that is what Luke's motto is but nothing could be further from the truth).
Begich was elected senator under the MOST suspicious circumstances. He has done NOTHING to deserve my respect. He ran Anchorage into a near financial disaster. He has voted on Party lines on EVERY vote. Yep he is a fool. Its not like he has power anyway.
POO...but again, there's a protocol...and like it or not (at least you and I seem to agree on Mark's election), he IS one of our senators and deserves to be treated with respect.
In my face-to-face interactions with these candidates, I get warm, caring, courtesy from both of them. I had a chance to work with them at fundraisers, and I know them both to be nice people. I would vote for Ms. Wilson to be on a citizens' advisory council and watchdog the spending of elected officials. But I would never vote for her to be Borough Mayor. The FNSB needs an effective administrator, and although I think Ms. Wilson could develop those skills over the next 3-4 years, I know that we can't afford it!
I thank her for running, and bringing some issues to light. And I know she will continue to be a presence for bettering the borough. But I need a skilled executive overseer as my mayor, and I'm voting for Mr. Hopkins.
Well, I tried to tune into KFAR ahead of time, to listen to Tammy - gee, I could only get FM - really! funny! but finally got KFAR. How in the world can you people listen to that belligerence? How can you listen to people arguing like that? They're not arguing in any kind of constructive way, so unfortunately, that's not really the right word for it. How can you listen to that belligerence & bullying? Do you think it's intelligent? How stupid you are! Don't you care about or have any idea what listening to this garbage is doing to you?
autumnimprov - go back to your fantasy land at UAF. The real world is a scary place for people like you.
"skilled executive overseer" Hopkins? He was a janitor!
autumnimprov
The only KFAR shows I ever listen to are Problem Corner, Tradio, and sometimes the Michael Dukes show. They also broadcast "The Garden Rebel" early on Sunday mornings. Otherwise KFAR is pretty much a wash for me. :)
Darling, I don't work at UAF. As I said, how stupid of you. How incredibly stupid of you.
It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress. - - Mark Twain. He was being humorous, but unfortunately for the late great United States, congress has indead become a criminal class. The switch from mortgage banking to investment banking has gutted the dollar. Congress did that. Begich joined a band of crooks, and unless he calls them out, he's one of them.
I went ahead and notified Disney Corporate Legal about the obviously unauthorized Kermit the Frog image on Wilson's website and in her ads. Anyone running for mayor should know better than to do something like that.
Of course she'll win. Why? She's so ordinary that none of you feel threatened by her.
Why don't we all just take turns being mayor?
autumnimprov - my mistake...you write an incredible number of posts regarding your daily UAF experiences.
Jeez I feel stupid...
Tammy Wilson
My wife and I are listening to Tammy Wilson on KFAR Michael Dukes Show,It's on 66am.
I went ahead and notified Disney Corporate Legal about the obviously unauthorized Kermit the Frog image on Wilson's website and in her ads.

Hmmm...did you talk to Kermit personally?
This winter try not to spend so much time outside. I think you may suffer from frostbite of the brain.

KFAR is 660 AM !

BTW....I hope you or your wife will call in on the show and ask any questions either of you may have :)
POO - ""skilled executive overseer" Hopkins? He was a janitor!"
You know better than that. Hopkins was initially hired as a carpenter - not a janitor - ever. Later, he supervised a staff of over a hundred individuals who maintained the facilities at UAF - a small "city" of buildings of various ages and needs. He was a facilities planner, and served on the Master Planning Commission. He served as President of the Support Staff.
All of those obligations proved his dedication to his work and to the people he worked with, and strong leadership capabilities.
You know, I read these comments fairly regularly, and you appear on most, if not all of the strings for political articles. So, before I commented to you today, I looked over a few pages of the 649 comments you've made since the 8th of July, 2009. There is one constant theme to your comments - negativity. You consistently attack, but rarely come out in direct support of anyone or anything. You've had several comments censored. Is there a reason for your bitterness, or are you merely a malcontent?
I am going with Malcontent.
Is President of the Support Staff = "skilled executive overseer"?
POO - You sound dangerous. After listening to that radio station, I guess I can understand why you sound so nuts. And altho I can understand that it's just empty commercial posturing on the radio screamer/bully's part, I don't think you understand that. Leave me alone. None of us are into your stalking behaviors.
Call Mike Lamb at the borough and request the Port Authority's financial reports to the borough and you can see what kind of book keeping you can expect in the borough if Hopkins gets in. See how they spent your borough tax payers money. Hopkins is secretary of the Port Authority and these reports are a joke.
THERE IS ONE MORE HOUR OF THE MICHAEL DUKES SHOW ON KFAR 660 AM.
TAMMIE WILSON IS TAKING CALLS AND ANSWERING QUESTIONS.
CALL IN AT 458-8255 and ASK what you want to know..........The phone number is 458-8255...........CALL IT!
P.S.
Luke didn't have the guts or the common sense to show up to the radio show!
I know what that tells me about him........He is so confident with his "Block Voters" he doesn't have to answer to the rest of us "common citizens.
I may be "common" but I still have ONE VOTE AGAINST LUKE (and his buddies).
autumnimprov - do you live in a bubble? Are you afraid to leave your house? Have you filed more than one police complaint within the last year? WOW
Just checked Luke's total donations.
Which total some $66,000 +
Union donations are mixed in with individual donations. Notice the small amounts form the organized Democrat political action committee.
A very effective way to controlling local "non-partisan" government.
To my knowledge only 2 people think the Mayor's race is "non-partisan"
The url below is the link.

POO - Don't slander me. The behavior you're exhibiting may be why there are fewer people participating in the comments section of this paper.
Wow I am amazing maybe, Sarah will win in 2012! Just judging the people, many of them Liberal who place HIGH regard over appearance over substance.
The argument seems to be Luke has no substance but looks much better. The only thing I believe Sarah had was appearance.
No matter your whining, you’ve pretty much proven, when push comes shove you’d vote for Palin.
I usually vote FOR someone when I go to the polls. This time, I'm going to the polls to vote AGAINST someone. That person is Luke Hopkins.
Well that was the single most frustrating waste of my time EVER! I sat on the line at KFAR for over 30 minutes waiting for my turn to ask a simple question of Wilson and had to listen to a bunch of people who just sat there chatting like they had all the time in the world... blah blahdy blah... Then they ended the show and still, I waited to see if Dukes or Wilson would notice that there was still a light on the phone... but no... I sat there for another 5 minutes and NOTHING.
One comment tho. The last couple of callers were complaining that the planning commission wasn't enforcing its own codes, and I think they were upset about some junkyards or something - I could barely hear them on the telephone line. And Wilson was saying, "And that's how it'll be with Hopkins - he just doesn't care"... Wow. Isn't it more a matter of NOT HAVING ENOUGH FUNDING to enforce the codes??? You anti-tax people crack me up. Don't tax us, but why the heck don't you enforce the codes? And where are MY SERVICES?
I'm never calling that lame show ever again - a complete waste of time.
Me too, bigfuts, only I'm voting against Wilson.
I don't blame Luke for not wanting to go on KFAR as a candidate. It is the most biased, crap spewing waste of radio spectrum around. I am sure the two candidates will get their debate(s) in. Also, I will share my usually astute political sense and share my election prediction. You saw it here first. Very low turnout. Hopkins 55%, Wilson 45%.

Luke's trolls were culled yesterday. Because he was unable to control them.
You will notice Tammie's supporters are on their good behavior.
-----
Tammie was on the radio, someone ask how she was going to shrink government.
Apparently, there are a lot of unfilled positions which are being funded.
By the way I have a wood stove and it is well worth my trouble to appose Luke! It cost me $3,000 dollars!
And I am tired of a couple public employee unions living better then their employers.
And the state's $2.25 / gal tax on my fuel oil is not on my love list!
voting down party lines... I think if you check it out the undeclared, green and independent parties have more folks in them than the Dems or Repubs. Basically, it is the two party system that is comprised of people feeding on B.S. and the folks tired of the B.S. Me I am tired of the B.S.
GO TAMMIE
1Ak - "Apparently, there are a lot of unfilled positions which are being funded."
Care to elaborate? If there are positions that aren't filled, how are they being funded? If by funded, you mean that they appear on the budget, but have yet to be filled, that's not "shrinking government" - that's just taking credit for not using all the funds that were budgeted.
And what do you mean by "a couple public employee unions living better then their employers"?
I really wish the newsminer would have the candidates themselves officially answer questions in this blog. It would help people know how they really feel about issues.
Instead of the same generalized, petty statements made by anonymous bloggers who claim to support their candidate. If anything harms it the candidate, maybe they really don’t care as long as they can get their licks in. I’ve met Luke a few times and if anything, even if I disagreed with his politics he seemed sincere. This is contrary to the way many of his supporters or alleged supporters paint him.
I would like to see ANY tax money efficiently spent on needed services that benefit the most people.
Don't worry about Power of the Poo. When things don't go his way, he lies and makes stuff up. When called on it, he disappears or refuses to answer.
By the way, POO POWER!, you remind me on someone who used to post here before being banned. His last appearance (of, at least, three) was right around the time you showed up. Coincidence, Mike?
Speaking of Hopkins, though, he certainly was NOT a janitor. But, once again, facts have never been your strong suit, have they, PooPower? No, when you need a "fact" and there isn't one handy, you spew out some garbage from your youknowwhat, and post it as fact; defending it until asked to cite a source.
So, Pooper, any sources for Hopkins being just a janitor? Anything? Anything at all?
I'm going to be voting for Hopkins, if only to see YOUR candidate lose. You deserve it! She deserves it for having you as a supporter!

It is a standard pr practice to snow the uninformed public to cut non existent positions.
Of course if you actually cut a position, the whining and screaming from the unions and their helpers in the press is defining!
Your supports all get cold feet, run up the yellow flag while you swing in the wind.
The other ways to cut are: to farm the job out to India, or sub contract. (Years ago, there was a burro employee who sub contracted his job and stayed home!
The SD used to have management people who run a private business from their school office while working full time.)
Shame on you keyboard! naughty, naughty. "Farm out a union job to India!!!"
Next you will say, ---replace the teachers with an AI bot like Alice (running on a Tesla 4 T flop computer), demand the parents pay 15(*) grand for their kid's day care and public employee union wages be 80% parity relative to the private sector aka Wal Mart.

Take heart, Obama's ratings have reached a record low and it is now looking like the country is beginning to turn away from Obama mania. Get back to a simple fact in the Mayor election, do you want Whitakers staus quo in the form of Hopkins, or something new. Reality is the University is flat lined for awhile. Who knows how long the troops will be here before they are sent back to Afghanstan. The feds are freezing up this State. The interior delegation will probably get next to nothing in this year's legislative session. the tourist season next summer is suppose to be a flop. The open season in July doesn't look good. It can go on and on. So people will have to decides do we want ten more years of the Port Authority tellings us they will bring cheap energy and jobs or do we want someone who just might accept this community for what it is a nice college, military town and how can we make the best of it. Personally, I don't see Hopkins in that role. For someone who screams he has been here 40 years, he seems hell bent on making this community another city in the lower 48. Along with the good old boys who back him. Community minded or just plain greedy.
FREE...what a lovely person you must be
Tammie Wilson supporters are runnin' for the hills after that embarrassing performance on Michael Dukes this afternoon.
Dukes and his flunkies were lobbing softballs and she was still struggling to form coherent sentences.
Proper grammar and syntax are Tammie Wilson’s greatest weaknesses.
And I thought all the mosquitoes had called it a summer. Give it a rest doobie.
Henry: Are you a member of that band that rose from the ashes of Nirvana? You know, the Poo Fighters?
This is a test...

Is the test going to be graded on a sliding scale?
