To the editor:
It is important to pick a mayor with experience that fits the job. Just as we want our electricians to understand wiring and we want our doctors to know medicine, shouldn’t we expect our next mayor to know and understand residents and how borough government operates?
If you were to look at the resumes of our two mayoral candidates side by side without names at the top, Luke Hopkins would be the obvious choice for mayor. He is the only candidate with experience managing large budgets and diverse groups of people. He is not afraid of hard work, and as an assemblyman for five years, he knows our borough.
Luke is smart and rational, and he carefully considers issues before making decisions. We can count on him to make the right decisions, even if they are hard. He has never been anything but totally honest and completely ethical. His passion for our community and its ordinary citizens is clear.
On Nov. 3, let’s elect a leader who is fair, compassionate and qualified. Let’s elect Luke Hopkins for borough mayor.
