Sherry Kay Tainter

1952 - 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of Sherry Tainter announces her passing.
Sherry Kay Tainter, 55, of Anchorage passed away at home, surrounded by family on Sunday, April 20, 2008. She courageously fought cancer for over three years, never losing her spirit or faith.
She was born Sherry Kay Maresh on Nov. 21, 1952, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Gordon and Shirley Maresh, the only girl of seven children. Sherry grew up in the city of Eau Claire where she met and married her husband of 32 years, Andrew Tainter.
After marrying in 1976, Sherry and Andrew moved to Fairbanks where they would start a family together. Sherry attended classes at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and received an associate’s degree in music. Sherry was very active in the church, singing in the choir and helping out with various functions.
Sherry was a very dedicated mother of four, a piano teacher, a voice coach and a choir director. She had a great love for music and was involved with it throughout her life. In 1991 Sherry and Andrew moved their family to their current home in Anchorage.
Sherry loved the Lord and dedicated her life to him. She taught her children to live in the same way and she was a testimony of God’s love to everyone she met. Through Christ, her life has changed many lives, especially those of her family whom she prayed for consistently every day.
Her family wrote, “She brought abundant love, faith and joy to our family and everyone around her. We will forever miss her smiling face, warm spirit and gentle touch. She had the heart of a pearl, beautiful and pure.”
Those left to treasure her many memories are her husband, Andrew Tainter; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Stephanie Tainter; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Tony Brugliera; daughters, Kristin and Karin Tainter; grandchildren, Davin Brugliera and Chloe Tainter; mother, Shirley Maresh; and six brothers. She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Maresh. She is also survived by her beloved Bichon Frise Daisy May.
A celebration of Sherry Tainter’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 27, at Change/Point Church, 6689 Changepoint Drive, Anchorage. Pastor Keith Lauwers will officiate.
Donations may be made to Change Point Community Church or to the Sherry Tainter Memorial Fund at Credit Union 1 in Anchorage.
