Ahh, a real keeper ... but Danny Stepp III didn’t keep it, he released it back into George Lake outside Delta. Stepp, who works at Boat Shop, was out with friends this past weekend trying out a new line of boats, and they decided to wet some fishing lines. Stepp’s big pike measured 39 inches and was estimated to weigh approximately 18 pounds. The day before, a friend caught a 41-inch pike weighing in at 20 pounds. It also was released. “We don’t keep the big ones,” Stepp said, “just the small ones.” The fishermen theorize the big spawners will keep the pike population constant in the lake which can only be reached by boat.
