Decade of Doubt: The John Hartman Murder

Evalyn Thomas displays a thank you card received from an anonymous organ transplant recipient who now carries a kidney that belonged to her deceased 15-year-old son, John Hartman. "It is what he would have wanted," says Thomas of the decision to donate Hartman's organs. Correspondence between Thomas and the transplant patients is through the donation agency Life Alaska that conceals the identity of each side. Hartman's other kidney, liver and heart ventricles have all been surgically transplanted to other patients.
