Athabascan Word of the Week: The Lord's Prayer

Monday, June 9, 2008

Here is The Lord's Prayer as recited by our late language teacher Josephine Mountain of Nulato. Josephine taught for many years at the Andrew K. Demoski School in Nulato. She also taught teachers and students regionwide at language institutes, camps, and workshops.
The original translation was done by Father Jules Jette, in Yoyeet Hukkenaage’, published in 1904. The history of the Roman Catholic Church and especially the history of Father Jette can be found in the "Koyukon Athabascan Dictionary. "
