Kelly Bostian
Managing Editor
Call Kelly at 907-459-7585.
A corn-fed Iowa boy, Managing Editor Kelly Bostian, 45, fled the flatlands for grand adventures in Texas. After a summer of pipe-fitting on Dallas construction sites and fruitless job interviews, he ended up in Alaska in September 1985. Bigger was better. He blames former Managing Editor Kent Sturgis for his current predicament. Sturgis asked in his job interview where Bostian wanted to be in 10 years. Bostian replied, “I think maybe in your chair.” Ten years later, he was. The Iowa State University journalism grad had to give up his position as outdoors editor, which he had held for eight years, to take the job, but the bigger job actually is better. When he’s not hunting, fishing or camping, Kelly tries to find time to go hunting, fishing or camping with his wife, DeAnna, their daughters, Chloe and Sydney, and an overly affectionate Labrador retriever named Tag.
