Gov. Sarah Palin's most recent candidate to fill a Juneau Senate seat vacated by Kim Elton in March is Alan Wilson.
He's in the building visiting media and several other offices, and stopped to talk about how he first met Palin.
A general contractor specializing in renovations, Wilson said he first spoke with the governor while working on remodels at the Juneau mansion not long ago.
He said that was the first time he really got to speak with Palin, outside of a brief word or handshake at big, public events.
Wilson is on a list of three names forwarded to Senate Democrats by Palin.
While Palin offers a nomination, the Democrats must confirm with a majority vote, or five votes.
A legal opinion issued this morning indicates Palin is not complying with state law by offering her list.
She's supposed to hand off a nomination for confirmation. And, she's supposed to offer "another" name if Democrats reject her nomination, which means the most recent candidate to be turned down by Democrats, Joe Nelson, shouldn't be recommended again right away, the opinion stated.
