A new poll shows Alaskans are not as positive about Gov. Sarah Palin as they were before her campaign for the vice presidency. The Hays Research Group phone poll results show 60 percent of those surveyed feel positively about Palin. Thirty-five percent have negative feelings. Of the same sample, 72 percent feel positively about Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Twenty-one percent feel negatively. The survey was conducted March 24-25. The group interviewed 401 people and has a margin of error of +/- 4.9 percent, and a 95 percent confidence level. When the same question was posed March 13, 61 percent felt positively about Palin and 33 percent said they felt negative. In a poll conducted July 25, before Palin joined John McCain in a run for the White House, 80 percent of those surveyed had a favorable opinion of Palin, and 16 percent had an unfavorable impression.
