State opens cabins and ice fishing huts on Birch, Quartz lakes

If you want to enjoy the wonders of Birch Lake or Quartz Lake, the state public use cabins and ice fishing huts are available.

There are four ice fishing huts at each lake.

The public use cabins rent for $25 per night and ice fishing huts go for $15 a day.

The huts are equipped with a wood stove and four corners to drill holes into the ice. Bring your own firewood and ice auger.

For reservations, call the Public Information Center at 451-2705. Maps with the locations of each ice hut are also available. The state office closes on Friday at 5 p.m.
