IRS has 977 'stimulus' checks waiting to be delivered to Alaskans

Published Friday, October 24, 2008

The IRS says that 977 people in Alaska have yet to claim their so-called “economic stimulus checks” and that 411 Alaskans have regular tax refunds waiting to be delivered.

All told, the checks total $1 million, the tax man says.

The tax refund checks were “returned by the U.S. Postal Service due to mailing address errors.”

The so-called stimulus checks, which average $622, have to be sent out by the end of the year. If you think you are due one, make sure the IRS has your address.

The IRS says the “Where’s My Stimulus Payment?" tool at IRS.gov should help.

The regular refund checks for Alaska taxpayers that were returned to the IRS average $974, the agency said.

If you are among the 411 people who have yet to get your money, check out the “Where’s My Refund?” tool on IRS.gov.
