District excludes 67 students for not having shot records up to date

The school district has revised upward the number of students excluded for not having up-to-date shot records today.
There were 60 kids in the elementary level and 7 in the middle and high schools who did not have current records on file.
Before being allowed to attend school, the kids and their parents need to show that the children are current on vaccinations, which includes the new state requirement for a chickenpox vaccination.
The numbers are higher than reported this morning, but the head nurse said it is far less of an issue than it appeared it might have been just a few days ago.
"It's been a wonderful response," said Maureen Kauleinamoku, nursing supervisor.
Many parents showed up at school today with shot records for their kids, while others had their children vaccinated within the past week, she said.
•With the filing deadline today, more candidates have entered the local races.
Daniel S. Osborn filed for Assembly Seat A, while Philip Newton of North Pole filed to run for Seat G against incumbent Mike Musick.
William Stodden became the fifth candidate for borough mayor.
Sharon McConnell filed for School Board Seat G.

As of last Friday the schools had 890 kids with out shot records that were complete. Now 67 kids were turned away:
What happen to the difference? Dose it mean that fewer number of kids are enrolled? Did they move away, go to private schools or home schooling? What happened?
Requiring a chickenpox vaccine for school attendance is simply ridiculous.
Thank God for religious exemptions!
That's right! God hates the varicella. Jokes aside I think that the rejected students were missing more than just the chicken pox vaccine. Sherry I kind of agree with you in that myself...... I thought chicken pox was kind of just part of growing up. Then I got them and thought that it was part of dying. Uhh! Still hate the smell of calamine.
