Cool summer ahead?

Published Wednesday, March 25, 2009

It's early to be making predictions for summer, but here goes.

The National Weather Service says that below average temperatures "are more likely than average" in the Pacific Northwest and "southern sections of Alaska" in April, May and June.

The weather map shows the cool prediction extending into the Interior.

"The temperature outlook is based on typical La Nina conditions, statistical tools, numerical climate model output and in some cases, current sea surface temperatures."

"There is an enhanced likelihood of above-median precipitation for central and northern sections of Alaska," the weather service said March 19.

According to the temperature outlook for April - June 2009, Fairbanks gardeners may see cool weather for the spring and early summer.

I love weather guessers, I always bet just the opposite. Look out for hot and smoke this year!
The guessers in Alaska can't guess right, what makes anyone think that an outsider can?

We've gone too far! Start burning those hydrocarbons, drive those SUVs, get more CO2 circulating. We must have done too much global warming stuff to make it colder. Don't forget to exhale, your breath has CO2 in it.

I thought some experts somewhere had already predicted that we were going to have an unusually hot summer. Since we didn't get a summer last year on account of that tenacious global cooling problem that more and more experts are seeing and probably blaming man for... I was looking forward to a few hot days.
