Van Horn nightly closures continue
Published Tuesday, May 26, 2009
Great Northwest will close a portion Van Horn Road at the Peger Road intersection tonight to continue grinding the pavement and painting permanent lines.
The closure is from 7 p.m. tonight to 7 a.m. Wednesday.
"We are estimating three more nights of work as long as we do not get any rain," said Steven "Stick" Platzke of Great Northwest.
The paint is placed in a one-eighth-inch cut on the highway to be below the surface so that snowplows won't rip up the stripes and solid lines.
If it doesn't rain, the project should be completed by Friday.
ON THE BLINK: Tenth Avenue is to be closed Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Steese Expressway intersection to allow the state Department of Transportation to fix a problem with the stoplight controls.
ONE LANE: The eastbound side of the Johansen Expressway overpass at College Road will be reduced to one lane Thursday at 10 a.m. The repairs are expected to be finished Saturday evening, DOT says.
