New Yorker magazine highlights Adams' latest work

Published Tuesday, September 8, 2009

The latest composition of Fairbanksan John Adams, which he premiered at the Banff Centre in Alberta, is the focus of a video posted by the New Yorker magazine.

Adams' new creation is "Inuksuit," a percussion work to be played outdoors. The name refers to stone markers used by some Native people to orient themselves in the Arctic. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/newsdesk/2009/09/video-john-luther-adams-inuksuit.html

    Very cool Mr. Cole.
As I lose more and more of my hearing and have to rely on hearing aids, I appreciate sound that much more. With a 50% hearing loss in both ears and the possibility of someday being entirely deaf I strain to hear as much as I can: music, the sounds of nature, loved ones voices, etc. I enjoyed this piece very much. Thank you.
