Parnell promises change

Published Wednesday, June 11, 2008

I just got back to the newsroom from the official opening of Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell's campaign headquarters in Fairbanks.

Several dozen supporters showed up, many of them disaffected supporters of Parnell's opponent in the Republican primary, Rep. Don Young.

I asked several people why they were supporting Parnell over Young, who has served as Alaska's lone Congressman for more than three decades.

Again and again the answer came down to one word:

Change.

They believe that Parnell will change Alaska's reputation in Congress for the better and try to bring fiscal responsiblity to Washington.

That message appears to be resonating, as he's ahead of Young by a few points in the most recent poll.

Does Parnell represent real change in Congress, or do you plan on sticking with Young this August?
