Still keeping one eye on Redoubt volcano

Ever since Mount Redoubt rumbled back to life in January, I've been keeping an eye on the volcano's activity. The Alaska Volcano Observatory has an excellent web site, although it tends to get bogged down during eruptions because so many people are trying to log in at one time.

Chasing Beethoven

The goal of the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra fundraiser is to beat Beethoven -- aka Steve Bainbridge -- as he runs a 5-kilometer course through the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus in step with Beethoven's 5th Symphony.
